MLB Pro Model Stacks: Thursday 8/3

mlb-dfs-picks-june 4-2019

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Los Angeles Dodgers

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. In the main slate, the top four-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Dodgers:

The Dodgers have the third-highest implied total on the slate with 5.3 runs (per our Vegas Dashboard). Corey Seager, and Cody Bellinger are among the top players in the Model. Bellinger and Seager have solid recent Statcast data with a batted ball distance of 226-237 feet, exit velocity of 92-96 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 43-46 percent. Justin Turner leads the stack with a .421 wOBA against right-handed pitching and has been getting a bit unlucky lately with a Recent Batted Ball Luck of +25. He could be due for positive regression.

Kansas City Royals

After the Dodgers, the Royals have the top five-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Model with an implied total of 5.1 runs:

Brandon Moss has stack-high recent Statcast data with a batted ball distance of 237 feet, exit velocity of 94 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 41 percent. Mike Moustakas mashes righties with a .295 ISO and .565 Slugging percentage. He has a +1.3 Plus/Minus on the season, 44 percent Consistency Rating, and 25 percent Upside Rating.

Moss and Moustakas are projected to bat sixth and seventh in the order (per our Lineups page), and batters in the sixth or seventh spots have historically had a 2.9 percent ownership rate in guaranteed prize pools, making them great tournament plays (per our Trends tool). Pro subscribers can review ownership trends across tournaments of various buy-in levels after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership Dashboard.

Detroit Tigers

FantasyDraft data and tools are now available in our Models. One of the top-rated six-man stacks in the Bales Model belongs to the Tigers, who are implied for 5.1 runs:

The Tigers are taking on righty Chris Tillman, who has a slate-worst 1.887 WHIP. Tillman has struggled recently, allowing 15 hits, 11 earned runs, and three home runs over the last two games.

Justin Upton leads the stack in wOBA (.358), ISO (.247), and Slugging Percentage (.499) against right-handed pitchers as well as Statcast data with a recent batted ball distance of 247 feet, exit velocity of 95 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 50 percent. Victor Martinez has been hitting the ball much better recently with a batted ball distance of 228 feet, exit velocity of 95 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 44 percent.
