MLB Pro Model Stacks: Friday 6/2

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Atlanta Braves

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. The top four-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Player Model belongs to the Atlanta Braves, one of three teams with an implied team total over 5.0 runs. Per our Vegas Dashboard, they have a Team Value Rating of 78, the fourth-best mark on this 14-game slate:

Matt Kemp and company have the pleasure of facing Reds righty Bronson Arroyo. A key player in this stack, Kemp is sporting a .369 wOBA and .230 ISO against right-handed pitching over the last 12 months. Arroyo has some of the slate’s worst Statcast data with a recent batted ball distance of 257 feet, exit velocity of 94 miles per hour, hard hit rate of 40 percent, and massive fly ball rate of 60 percent. On top of his putrid Statcast data, Arroyo owns a 1.465 WHIP and has surrendered 3.164 HR/9. Targeting Arroyo has been a popular strategy this season, so the Braves could have elevated ownership, which Pro subscribers can review via our DFS Ownership Dashboard after lineup lock.

Miami Marlins

If you build by ISO, the Marlins have one of the top stacks with a combined .279. The Marlins take on Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin and are implied for a respectable 4.7 runs:

Projected to hit fifth (per our Lineups page), Justin Bour leads the stack with solid Statcast numbers, boasting a recent batted ball distance of 244 feet, exit velocity of 94 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 58 percent. Historically, batters with similar Statcast data average a +1.61 DraftKings Plus/Minus with a 45.8 percent Consistency Rating (per our Trends tool). Sporting a 1.666 WHIP and a recent batted ball distance of 227 feet, exit velocity of 93 miles per hour, and massive hard hit rate of 51 percent, Corbin could struggle against this Marlins team.

Note: Our Lineups page shows a high chance of rain for the Diamondbacks-Marlins game, but fear not, as Marlins Park has a retractable roof.

Cincinnati Reds

The top four-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 model belongs to the Cincinnati Reds, who own the slate’s second-highest implied total at 5.1 runs:

Averaging a +1.27 DraftKings Plus/Minus over the last 10 games, Joey Votto has a .447 wOBA and .263 ISO against left-handed pitching. While Billy Hamilton isn’t a home run hitter, he offers plenty of stolen base upside. Braves righty Michael Foltynewicz has put together some strong games this year, but over his last two games he has allowed a recent batted ball distance of 217 feet and exit velocity of 92 miles per hour. The Reds could thrive in Great American Ball Park.
