MLB Pro Model Stacks: Monday 7/17

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Houston Astros

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. The Astros have one of the top non-Coors Field FanDuel stacks in the Bales Model. Per our Vegas Dashboard, the Astros are currently one of eight teams implied for at least 5.0 runs tonight:

Currently projected to lead off (per our Lineups page), George Springer is averaging a massive +10.69 Plus/Minus over his last 10 games. This isn’t surprising given his excellent Statcast data with a recent batted ball distance of 244 feet, exit velocity of 94 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 46 percent. Mariners starter Ariel Miranda is sporting a fly ball rate of 50 percent over the last 12 months, which bodes well for the stacked Astros, who all have recent fly ball rates of at least 35 percent. Carlos Beltran leads the stack with a fly ball rate of 45 percent. The Astros may be an excellent pivot play to the Rockies since this particular stack costs as much as the top Rockies Pro Trends stack.

Colorado Rockies

If you build a FanDuel stack by Pro Trends, the Rockies have the top stack with 31 Pro Trends. They currently lead the slate with an implied run total of 6.6 and boast a healthy Team Value Rating of 86.

Charlie Blackmon is tied for a slate-best 11 Pro Trends and sports an outstanding recent batted ball distance of 256 feet, exit velocity of 96 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 48 percent. Players with similar Statcast data have averaged a +2.50 Plus/Minus with a 47.3 percent Consistency Rating (per our Trends tool). DJ LeMahieu has played 340 games at Coors Field, where he’s averaged a +1.25 Plus/Minus with a 49.7 Consistency Rating. With the exception of Blackmon, each player in this stack owns a Bargain Rating of at least 85 percent, giving you some discounted exposure to the best hitting environment in baseball.

Baltimore Orioles

The top five-man stack on DraftKings in the CSUMRAM88 Model belongs to the Orioles, who are tied for the slate’s second-highest implied total at 5.4 runs.

Chris Davis, Manny Machado, and Mark Trumbo all sport ISOs of at least .231 against right-handed pitching, while Trumbo and Machado each have exceptional Statcast data with recent batted ball distances over 226 feet and exit velocities over 90 mph. Hitters with similar Statcast and Vegas data have averaged a +1.13 Plus/Minus. With eight teams implied for 5.0 runs or more, this slate will likely feature relatively distributed ownership, which Pro subscribers can review after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership Dashboard.

Good luck, and be sure to read today’s MLB Breakdown!
