MLB Pro Model Stacks: Monday 5/8

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Oakland Athletics

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. Today’s highest-rated five-man DraftKings stack in the SportsGeek Player Model is a 1-5 stack of the Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The Athletics are currently implied to score just 4.0 runs, but they have top-five Team Value Ratings on both DraftKings and FanDuel (per our Vegas Dashboard):

The Athletics will face off against Ricky Nolasco, who over the last 15 days has awful Statcast data, with a 239-foot batted ball distance, 94 mph exit velocity, and 41 percent fly ball rate, all of which are among the three highest marks in the slate. His 88.7 mph pitch velocity is the slate’s lowest. Nolasco will also have to deal with winds gusting to right field at nine mph (per our Lineups page). The A’s have some sneaky upside.

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies are currently implied to score 5.3 runs — the second-highest mark among all teams in Monday’s slate. They benefit from hitting at Coors Field, but a matchup against Jake Arrieta isn’t so great. Still, the Rockies have the highest-rated four-man stack on FanDuel in the CSURAM88 Model:

Ownership distribution will be intriguing. The Rockies are facing an elite pitcher, and the game currently has a slate-high 68 percent chance of precipitation. Additionally, the Cubs are currently implied to score a slate-high 5.9 runs, so the Rockies could have reduced ownership. Pro subscribers can review ownership data across guaranteed prize pools of all stakes via our DFS Ownership Dashboard after lineups lock. This stack isn’t particularly cheap at $15,600 on FanDuel, but all four batters offer value with Bargain Ratings of at least 75 percent.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers offer the highest-rated stack based on ISO. The Dodgers are currently implied to score 4.7 runs — the fourth-highest mark in Monday’s slate:

They face righty Trevor Williams, who is making his second career start. Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson have two of the slate’s top-three ISO differentials over the past 12 months, and all four Dodgers in the stack have positive wOBA differentials. The Dodgers have Team Value Ratings of 74 and 75 on DraftKings and FanDuel, top-five marks in Monday’s slate, and they’ll look to take advantage of Williams’ tendency to allow pop-ups, with his slate-high 58 percent fly ball rate over the past 15 days. Willliams has also struggled to limit big hits, allowing an average batted ball distance of 216 feet over the past 12 months, which is tied for the second-highest mark in the slate.
