MLB Pro Model Stacks: Monday 5/29

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Texas Rangers

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. The top four-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Rangers, a team presently implied to score 4.9 runs (per the Vegas Dashboard):

The team’s left-handed hitters lead the slate with a 65 Park Factor, and Nomar Mazara ranks first in the main slate with a +0.163 ISO differential. He also leads the four-man stack with a recent distance differential of +10 feet and a recent hard hit differential of +9 percentage points. Hitters comparable in lineup spot and Statcast data have averaged a +2.83 FanDuel Plus/Minus with a 45.5 percent Consistency Rating and 27 percent Upside Rating on 7.4 percent ownership (per our Trends tool). Rays right-handed starter Erasmo Ramirez possesses the worst Statcast data in the main slate, and he pitched one inning in relief yesterday as one of eight pitchers used by the Rays in a 15-inning game.

Tampa Bay Rays

The top five-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Model belongs to the Rays, who presently lead the slate with an 84 Team Value Rating:

Colby Rasmus was the only hitter who didn’t play every inning yesterday, which could lead to multiple off days for regulars. Implied to score 4.7 runs, the projected Rays lineup has actually struggled against left-handed pitchers, as Rickie Weeks is the only hitter with a positive ISO differential against lefties over the past year. Although Rangers starter Martin Perez doesn’t allow homers often, his 1.502 WHIP is the main slate’s third-worst mark.

Los Angeles Angels

The top three-man DraftKings Pro Trends stack belongs to an Angels trio:

Mike Trout and Martin Maldonado presently lead all hitters with 10 Pro Trends, and Maldonado offers a 94 percent Bargain Rating. All three hitters rank in the top 10 in recent distance and hard hit differentials. The most expensive hitter on the slate, Trout has a monthly dud rate of nine percent and a slate-high recent batted ball distance of 276 feet. His status remains unclear as he exited Sunday’s game with a sprained thumb, which could reduce his ownership on a slate in which the most expensive pitcher costs $9,800. The Angels likely won’t have high ownership as they are presently implied to score 4.2 runs, and this stack in particular — with two end-of-the-order hitters — will likely be neglected in tournaments.
