MLB Pro Model Stacks: Friday 5/19

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Houston Astros

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. The top five-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Player Model belongs to the Houston Astros, who currently are implied for a respectable 4.6 runs:

The Astros take on Trevor Bauer, who has been mediocre in his last two starts with a recent batted ball distance of 216 feet and an exit velocity of 90 miles per hour. George Springer and Carlos Correa are both among the slate leaders with nine Pro Trends, and Correa leads all shortstops with a recent batted ball distance of 236 feet. Josh Reddick has an ISO differential of .184, which ranks in the top five among outfielders. Of course, since the Astros have a high total, they could garner relatively high ownership, which Pro subscribers can review after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership Dashboard.

Detroit Tigers

The top four-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Detroit Tigers, who currently lead the slate with 5.1 implied runs. Per our Vegas Dashboard, the Tigers have a Team Value Rating of 83, which is tied for the best on the slate:

J.D. Martinez has crushed lately with a recent batted ball distance of 242 feet, exit velocity of 95 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 61 percent. Martinez and Justin Upton lead the stack with ISOs over .257 against right-handed pitchers. The matchup against Nick Martinez is exploitable as he owns a 1.497 WHIP and 2.021 HR/9 over the last year and has a weak 4.1 K Prediction. Historically, the four top batters in the order have averaged a +1.58 Plus/Minus with a 45.4 percent Consistency Rating.

Cleveland Indians

If you build your stacks by ISO on FanDuel, the top group is an unconventional 2-3-5-9 stack of the Cleveland Indians, who are implied for a meager 3.9 runs:

Currently projected to hit ninth (per our Lineups page), rookie Bradley Zimmer is sporting a .667 ISO through his first two career games, so we may want to take this stack with a grain of salt, especially since Astros righty Charlie Morton has elite Statcast data with a recent batted ball distance of 182 feet, exit velocity of 89 miles per hour, and 22 percent hard hit rate. At the same time, this stack has a good chance of making a lineup unique, and the wind is currently expected to blow out to left field at 12 miles per hour.

Good luck, and be sure to read Bryan Mears’ MLB Breakdown later today!
