The PGA TOUR has reached the final event of the FedExCup Playoffs, and the top 30 golfers in the FedExCup standings will duel it out in Atlanta this week, trying to win a piece of the largest purse of the season. With no starting strokes this year, all 30 players will start at even par in their quest to win the tournament, become the FedExCup champion, and claim the $10 million top prize.
Scottie Scheffler is the heavy favorite after his fifth win of the season last week at the BMW Championship. He also won last year’s TOUR Championship played at East Lake Golf Club, which has hosted this tournament since 2004. It’s a no-cut event, so all 30 players will get in four rounds at East Lake, barring withdrawal or disqualification. To find out more about the course and the field, as well as some top stats to target, check out this First Look from RotoGrinders.

Especially in large-field GPP tournaments, you’ll want to make sure to target players who have lower ownership projections than their potential performance. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for GPP success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.

Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week-to-week than a hot putter.
Since these are GPP picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for GPP play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.
As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

Rory McIlroy $11,300
For GPP lineups, Rory is a very strong pivot from Scottie Scheffler ($13,900), who has the highest ownership projection on the board with very good reason, since he also brings the top projections across the board and the shortest odds to win and to finish in the top 10. Going with Rory instead saves over $2,500, and he has an outstanding history at East Lake.
He won this tournament in 2016, 2019, and 2022 and finished in the top 10 seven of the last eight years and in nine of his 11 career appearances. The course demands both length off the tee and precision on approach, so it plays to Rory’s strengths beautifully.
Last week, McIlroy finished T12 at the BMW Championship, his first start since The Open Championship in his native Ireland. He finished T7 at The Open and has notched five straight top-20 finishes since missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open.
Over his last 16 rounds, Rory ranks second in the field in Total Strokes Gained and Strokes Gained: Putting. Over all the rounds played in the last 12 months, he also ranks second in the field in Total Strokes Gained and second in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee.
Rory matches a slate-high 11 Pro Trends this week, and he has a higher Perfect% than any other player in the field since the rest of the roster around him can be so much stronger at his salary.
