For our first major of the season, we travel to Augusta National Golf Club (par 72, 7,555 yards, bentgrass greens) for the Masters. No other course has ever hosted the Masters, and at last year’s edition of this major, Scottie Scheffler (-11) won by four shots. For this week, there will be 95 golfers competing and a limited cut with the top 50 and ties advancing after the first two rounds.
The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.
I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.
My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.
Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.
There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:
- Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
- Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
- Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
- Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
- Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
- Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green
Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.
The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.
And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup Optimizer, Lineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.
The following players listed are based on DraftKings scoring and pricing.

DraftKings $10,000+ Range
Scottie Scheffler ($12,400)
Scheffler’s four-shot win at Augusta National last year is his second Masters win in the last three years, and he owns an outstanding 9.8-place average career finish in five starts at the par 72. Among the players in this week’s field that have competed at Augusta National more than once, Scheffler unsurprisingly ranks first in Strokes Gained at the famous venue. Plus, the world No. 1 is coming off his best performance of the season, finishing runner-up at the Houston Open two weeks ago. During this start, Scheffler tied the course record with an 8-under 62 in the second round, and he carded a 7-under 63 in the final round. Scheffler is ready to claim his first win of the season and is worth every penny this week.

DraftKings $9,000 Range
Xander Schauffele ($9,700)
Schauffele has been outstanding at Augusta National, with four top-10 finishes in seven starts, most notably with a runner-up in 2019 and a T3 in 2021. After finishing T8th at last year’s Masters, Schauffele got over the hump and went on to win two of the final three majors of the season. The 31-year-old has incredibly finished inside the top 10 in six of his last eight starts at a major, and after dealing with a rib injury to start this season, Schauffele regained his form in his last start. At the Valspar Championship three weeks ago, Schauffele finished T12th and gained a jaw-dropping 11.2 strokes on approach. This set a career high for Schauffele, and he should contend for his first green jacket in this incredible form as a ball striker.
Jordan Spieth ($9,000)
In his warmup for the Masters at the Valero Texas Open last week, Spieth handled the tough conditions of TPC San Antonio very well with a T12 finish. The 31-year-old has now finished inside the top 12 in three of his last six starts, and Spieth’s driver has been arguably his best club this season, with the three-time major champion ranking 29th in total driving. With three of the last four Masters champions finishing the week top 10 in SG: Off-the-Tee, being in strong driving form is a clear advantage at Augusta National, and Spieth should make some serious noise in his return to the beloved par 72. In 11 starts at Augusta National, Spieth has carded six top-five finishes, including his four-stroke win in 2015.
DraftKings $8,000 Range
Russell Henley ($8,400)
Playing the best golf of his career, Henley is a difficult fade at this salary. The veteran just won for the fifth time on the PGA TOUR last month with a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which is a Signature Event that hosts a major-like field. Henley has carded four top-10 finishes in just seven starts this season, and he ranks third in the FedEx Cup standings. Additionally, Henley ranks in the top 25 in SG: Approach, SG: Around-the-Green, and SG: Putting. Three of the last five winners at Augusta National have ranked top eight in both SG: Approach and SG: Around-the-Green during their victories, and Henley is a legitimate threat to contend this week. At Augusta National, the 35-year-old has made 7 of 8 cuts, and he has finished inside the top 15 in three of his last five starts at the par 72.
Will Zalatoris ($8,300)
Priced at the average cost per roster spot on DraftKings, Zalatoris is a superb option. The 28-year-old has been brilliant at Augusta National, finishing runner-up, T6th, and T9th in his first three starts at the venue. This results in a 5.7 career average finish at the Masters, which is the best among all the players in this field that have competed at Augusta National more than once. As for his form, Zalatoris hasn’t missed a cut in seven starts this season, and five of these finishes have been top-25 results. Furthermore, he has gained strokes on approach in all but one start, and he ranks 20th in SG: Approach. Zalatoris is well overdue for a high finish, and Augusta National is the perfect place for him to contend again.
DraftKings $7,000 Range
Corey Conners ($7,900)
Conners has been featured in this article often this season, and we need to keep trusting the Canadian at this affordable salary. Conners has finished T3rd, T6th, T8th, and T18th in his last four starts, and he has nearly gained strokes across the board in all these starts. Conners shot under par in all but one of these past 16 rounds, and he ranks 19th in SG: Off-the-Tee this season, setting him up perfectly for the driver-heavy Augusta National. Conners’ tendency to draw the ball makes him a great match for this par 72, which is evident in his results at Augusta National. In his last five starts at the Masters, Conners has finished inside the top 10 three times.
Sepp Straka ($7,600)
Straka is an awesome target at this season-low salary. Only trailing Rory McIlroy, Straka ranks second in the FedEx Cup standings this season. The Austrian has tallied seven top-15 finishes in 10 starts, one of which was a win at the American Express in January. Straka’s irons have been magnificent, with him ranking fifth in SG: Approach, and he also ranks second in par-5 performance. Each of the last three Masters champions have finished as the major runner-up in par-5 efficiency, and Straka should have a career-best showing at Augusta National this week. He has never missed a cut at the Masters in three starts, and Straka’s best finish at this major came last season with a T16.
Jason Day ($7,600)
Day has made 10 of 12 cuts at Augusta National with eight top-30 finishes. Three times he has finished inside the top five at this track, and Day has been very reliable this season. The Australian has yet to miss a cut in seven starts, and five of these finishes have been results of T32 or better, including a T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month. Day ranks 28th in par-5 performance, and he has a ton of merit for cash games at this season-low salary.
Keegan Bradley ($7,000)
Bradley’s salary has also hit a season low on DraftKings, making him an excellent target this week. Bradley is a perfect 8-for-8 in made cuts this season, and he has been consistently at the top of leaderboards with five top-20 finishes. Ranking top-30 in both SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach this season, Bradley’s ball striking has been his backbone, and his great season should continue this week with another strong finish. Bradley finished T22nd at last year’s Masters, which is his fourth top-30 finish and seventh made cut in eight starts at this major.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range
J.J. Spaun ($6,800)
Spaun has been one of the best players on the PGA TOUR this season, and he can’t be ignored at this sub-$7,000 salary. The 34-year-old has only missed one cut in nine starts this season, and he has been in the mix for wins, with three top-three finishes. Spaun is truly one of the best ball strikers in the world, as he not only ranks second in SG: Approach this season, but he has gained strokes on approach at an eye-popping 25 events in a row. Spaun ranks 26th in par-5 performance, and he finished T22nd in his lone start at Augusta National in 2022. Spaun now returns to the renowned track 74 spots higher in the world golf rankings.
Lucas Glover ($6,600)
Glover has finished inside the top 30 at the last two Masters, and the former major champion returns to Augusta National playing terrific golf. In his last two starts, Glover has finished T3rd at THE PLAYERS Championship and T8th at the Valspar Championship. Despite both these events being played at challenging Florida courses, Glover gained strokes in every major category during both these finishes, and he shot under par in all eight of these rounds. Glover ranks 18th in total strokes gained this season, and he brings outstanding upside for a player this cheap.
