After the final major championship of the season, the attention of the PGA TOUR turns to the final few tournaments before the FedExCup Playoffs start in just a few weeks. Players will be looking to improve their status and lock up full-time membership for next year’s critical season by finishing in the top 70 of the FedExCup Playoff race, and just three tournaments remain before those top 70 are locked in.
The first of the three playoff lead-in tournaments is the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, MN. The full-field event with a standard cut gives some of the players on the fringe a chance to move into the playoff picture with a strong showing as players look to get into a better position down the stretch. This year, Scottie Scheffler is also in the field for his tournament debut, and he’s the heavy favorite to get the win this week. For more info on the field, the format, and the course for this week, check out this First Look from RotoGrinders.
Especially in large-field tournaments, you’ll want to make sure to target players who have lower ownership projections than their potential performance suggests. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for tournament success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.
Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week to week than a hot putter.
Since these are tournament picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for tournament play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.
As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

Editor’s note: SimLeverage and Perfect% numbers may change after this piece is published. Be sure to check the PGA Models for any updates to the sims.
High-Priced PGA DFS Picks
Scottie Scheffler $14,900
Scheffler is in a tier by himself this week, and his salary reflects that, since it is $5,000 more than any other player in the field. He is the overwhelming favorite to win this week, according to Vegas, and whether to build around him or not is the key question for DFS lineups this week. Including him on your roster leaves an average of only about $7,000 for the rest of your roster, so you’ll have to be very creative with your roster construction.
If you do build around Scottie, though, the ceiling of your lineup is very high, so he makes sense for tournament lineups where it’s worth taking a shot on combining him with several value plays like the ones listed below. Scheffler has the highest median, ceiling, and floor projections by a wide margin, and he also has the highest Perfect% , which gives him the highest SimLeverage in the field. He has the shortest odds to win and finish in the top 10, according to Vegas, and is expected to be in contention down the stretch.
He did miss the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open 2 weeks ago but bounced back with a T5 at The Open Championship. Even though his game hasn’t been perfect, he has continued to rack up high finishes.
Over the last 6 months, Scheffler leads the field in SG:APP, SG:T2G, and Total Strokes Gained. He also ranks 2nd in SG:OTT, which is another key metric to check out this week due to the setup of the course.
Scheffler won his first tournament of 2026 at The American Express back in January but hasn’t been able to claim any victories since then. However, he has finished in the top 5 an incredible 9 times, including 4 runner-up finishes. He has finished in the top 25 of every event he has played except for that missed cut in Scotland.
Scheffler has won before at events where he is the biggest name by a wide margin like this, and he’ll look to get back at the top of the leaderboard at TPC Twin Cities to claim his 21st PGA TOUR win.
He’s a great pick to contend in his tournament debut due to his overall pedigree and how well his game fits the course, and he’ll be a great pay-up leverage option if you can find the right values to balance out his hefty price tag.

Jake Knapp $9,400
Our models are also very high on Jake Knapp to have a bounce-back week this week, and he will likely have low ownership since he’s coming off back-to-back missed cuts in the U.K. Knapp has the 2nd-highest Perfect% and the 3rd-highest ceiling and median projections in the entire field this week, and his lower ownership also gives him the 2nd-highest SimLeverage in the field.
Knapp finished T3 last year at the 3M Open, gaining strokes across all major categories. He made the FedExCup Playoffs last season, but he took the rest of the year off after being eliminated at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
He started 2026 on fire with 7 top-25 finishes in his first 8 tournaments, including a top-5 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, which is another driver-focused course. He has been limited by injuries since that good start, though, and hasn’t posted a strong finish since the Masters.
Even though the results haven’t been there yet, his game does seem to be coming into form, with SG:APP and SG:OTT showing improvement everywhere but on the green in his 2 weeks overseas. Getting back in the States on more familiar putting surfaces could help him have a strong showing this week.
He does come with significant risk, since he has not posted great results recently, but his upside makes him worth it in tournament builds as an alternative to Scheffler. You can partner him with other options in the $9,000 range to serve as the core for your non-Scheffler builds this week to get excellent leverage and help your lineup stand out.
