Truist Championship: Top PGA DFS Picks, Values, and Sleepers for Large-Field GPPs on DraftKings

The PGA TOUR heads from Miami up to Charlotte for a second straight Signature Event, leading up to the PGA Championship on the schedule for next week. After taming the Blue Monster last week, now the top pros will take on The Green Mile at Quail Hollow Club.

Quail Hollow has hosted a PGA TOUR event every year since the early 2000s. Last year, Truist Bank stepped in as the title sponsor, but the event had to move to a different course since the PGA Championship was at Quail Hollow instead. As a Signature Event, this tournament offers an elevated purse and does not have a cut. All 72 golfers will play four rounds (barring withdrawal or disqualification). For more info on the field, the format, and the challenge at Quail Hollow, check out this First Look from RotoGrinders.

Especially in large-field GPP tournaments, you’ll want to make sure to target players who have lower ownership projections than their potential performance suggests. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for GPP success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.

Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week to week than a hot putter.

Since these are GPP picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. To find guidance for all contest types, check out our full Daily Fantasy Golf coverage each week.

No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for GPP play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.

As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

High-Priced PGA DFS Picks

Ludvig Aberg $9,600

Without Scottie Scheffler in the field this week, Rory McIlroy is the overwhelming favorite, according to Vegas, especially with his past history at Quail Hollow. He’s a great play, as my colleague Alex Hunter broke down this week, but rather than run down his accolades again, let’s look at two GPP alternatives.

Ludvig Aberg has the highest SimLeverage in the entire field since his ownership projection is much lower than his Perfect%, which is the fourth-highest in the field. He also matches the third-most Pro Trends in the field behind only Rory and Xander Schauffele.

The big drawback with Aberg is that he has only played Quail Hollow one time in his career, missing the cut at the PGA Championship last season. While he doesn’t have any good course history on this track, he has the kind of game that fits the track well, with plenty of length off the tee and strong approach play, especially with his long irons.

What Aberg brings in addition to his low ownership projection this week is excellent form. He has exceeded salary-based expectations in eight straight events. He has six straight top-25 finishes and top-five finishes in four of his last five tournaments. As part of that run, he seemed to have THE PLAYERS Championship in hand, but he had a few bad holes and ended up T5.

Over the last three months, Aberg ranks fourth in the field in both Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and Total Strokes Gained. He ranks in the top 10 in both Driving Distance and Strokes Gained: Approach over that span as well.

Aberg took last week off after a T4 at the RBC Heritage, where he held the first-round lead after a bogey-free, eight-under Round 1. He hasn’t won since The Genesis Invitational in 2025, which was a Signature Event on a long course that has some similarities to Quail Hollow.

Aberg’s ownership projection is low due to his lack of specific course history, but his course fit and current form set him up well as a strong pivot play, alongside or instead of the other expensive plays.

Patrick Cantlay $9,200

Patrick Cantlay has the lowest ownership projection of all players at $8,500 or higher after the exit of Jake Knapp (thumb) saturated the ownership projections in the $8,000s (more below). Cantlay is a solid place to get a little differentiation but still has a solid ceiling and good upside.

Cantlay has the fourth-highest SimLeverage of the players over $9,000, and he comes in with some good momentum.

Earlier in the season, Cantlay missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but he posted top-15 finishes at The American Express and the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He has also found a good rhythm in his last three starts, finishing T7 at the Valspar, T12 at the Masters, and T8 at the RBC Heritage.

Over the last 20 rounds, he ranks 12th in the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, sixth in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and third in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green. He withdrew from last week’s event in Miami with an illness but is ready to return to action this week and tune up for the PGA Championship.

Cantlay has a mixed history at Quail Hollow, but he finished T21 and T29 in his two tournaments at the venue before missing the cut at the PGA Championship last year.

While he’s higher risk than some of the top options since he’s coming back from illness and doesn’t have as great a course history, he does still bring good momentum and upside as a differentiator from the top tier of options.
