PGA DFS: Top Cash Game Picks for the Truist Championship

The PGA TOUR is hosting it’s second Signature Event in a row with the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,583 yards, Bermuda/POA trivialis greens) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship, the Truist Championship has been played at Quail Hollow since 2003, except in 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2025. Last year, Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship, which Scottie Scheffler (-11) won by five strokes. As a Signature Event, the Truist Championship is hosting a field of 72 golfers, who are competing for a $20 million purse and there will be no cut.

The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.

I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.

My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.

Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.

There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:

  • Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
  • Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
  • Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
  • Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
  • Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green

Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.

The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.

And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup OptimizerLineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

PGA DFS Cash Game Thoughts

DraftKings $10,000 Range

Rory McIlroy ($11,700)

Rory McIlroy doesn’t have to worry about the red-hot Scheffler this week, and coming off his Masters win, McIlroy now gets to compete at another course he loves, Quail Hollow. McIlroy has carded nine top-10 finishes in 14 starts at Quail Hollow, including four wins. The Irishman last won here in 2024, and he did so by five shots. McIlroy is gaining a field-best 2.5 strokes per round at Quail Hollow. After renovations by Tom Fazio in 1997, 2013, and 2016, Quail Hollow is considered a Fazio design, and McIlroy notably has secured nine wins at Fazio courses throughout his career. Especially with Scheffler not in the field, it was surprising to see McIlroy priced under $12,000, and paying up for him in cash games is wise. In his last six starts, McIlroy has finished inside the top three at three events.

DraftKings $9,000 Range

Matt Fitzpatrick ($9,900)

Fitzpatrick finished a career-best T8 at Quail Hollow for last year’s PGA Championship, and the Englishman is one of the hottest golfers on the planet right now, winning three times in his last four starts. Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship, the RBC Heritage, and most recently, the team-based Zurich Classic playing alongside his brother Alex. Fitzpatrick is striking the ball better than ever, and him besting his T8 at Quail Hollow last season is likely this week. Fitzpatrick ranks top 12 in both Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and Strokes Gained: Approach this season, and each of the last two winners at Quail Hollow have finished the event in the top eight in both categories.

Ludvig Aberg ($9,600)

Aberg missed the cut in his first attempt at Quail Hollow last season, but leading up to this, he had finished outside the top 50 at back-to-back events. This time around, Aberg is in tremendous form, finishing inside the top five in four of his last five starts. The Swede ranks eighth in total driving this season, and his expertise in this department should pay big dividends at the long Quail Hollow, where strong drivers have an advantage.

DraftKings $8,000 Range

Harris English ($8,200)

Harris English has been very close to winning at Quail Hollow the last few years, finishing runner-up at last year’s PGA Championship and T3 at the Truist Championship in 2023. English closed last year’s PGA Championship with a 6-under 65, which was one stroke shy of the lowest score for the major. This season, the veteran has supplied six top-25 finishes in 11 starts, including a T4 at the RBC Heritage last month. English is having a strong season with his driver, ranking 30th in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, and his putter has been even better, ranking 16th in Strokes Gained: Putting, which bodes well for Quail Hollow. Of the last five winners here, four have finished the event in the top eight in Strokes Gained: Putting.

DraftKings $7,000 Range

Gary Woodland ($7,600)

Gary Woodland has finished inside the top 15 in two of his last four visits to Quail Hollow, and he has been excellent as of late, with three top-15 finishes in his last five starts. Woodland just won the Houston Open by five strokes in late March, and his driver has been one of the best in the world this season, ranking second in driving distance and 13th in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee. Woodland’s game sets up very well for the lengthy Quail Hollow, and he is a tough fade at this price.

Alex Smalley ($7,500)

Smalley’s game is ascending right now, and he is a great option at Quail Hollow, where he has finished T18 and T28 in his last two starts at the venue. Smalley has finished T21, T14, runner-up, and T7 in his last four starts. That runner-up came at the team-based Zurich Classic, but Smalley finished this high playing with Hayden Springer as his partner, who has spent most of his season on the Korn Ferry Tour. Smalley then kept his foot on the gas with a T7 finish at the Cadillac Championship last week, which is a Signature Event like the Truist Championship. Smalley ranked fourth in Strokes Gained: Approach at the Blue Monster Course last week, and he ranks 16th in the metric this season.

Corey Conners ($7,300)

Conners has made 9 of 10 cuts and tallied four top-30 finishes this season. The Canadian just finished T30 at the Cadillac Championship last week, and he closed with a 5-under 67 in the final round. Conners gained strokes with both his irons and putter at the Blue Monster course, and he will now look to build off this at Quail Hollow, where Conners boasts a strong record. The 34-year-old has finished T21 or better in five consecutive starts at Quail Hollow, including a T8 in 2023.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range

Kristoffer Reitan ($6,900)

Kristoffer Reitan has never competed at Quail Hollow before, but the professional out of Norway is in compelling form, and his game suits this track. Reitan has finished T10, T41, and T14 in his last three starts, with that final finish coming at last week’s Cadillac Championship. The 28-year-old gained strokes in every major category except with his putter at the Blue Monster, and he ranks 23rd in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee this season, so Reitan has the driver to succeed at Quail Hollow.

Ryan Fox ($6,600)

Fox has advanced to the weekend at the past two PGA Championships at Quail Hollow, including a T28 last season, and after dealing with kidney stones in March that forced him to withdraw from THE PLAYERS Championship, Fox’s game is trending up again. After finishing T16 at the RBC Heritage, he just finished T30 at the Cadillac Championship last week. Fox gained strokes with both his driver and irons at these events, and he posted a 4-under 68 in the final round at the Blue Monster last week. Fox has finished inside the top 30 in 6 of 8 starts this season, and another top 30 is within reach for him this week.
