Valero Texas Open: Top PGA DFS Picks, Values, and Sleepers for Large-Field GPPs on DraftKings

The PGA TOUR has almost reached the first major of the season, with the fun and excitement of Masters week just ahead. Before heading to Augusta, though, the season has one more tournament in Texas as the pros head from Houston to San Antonio for this week’s Valero Texas Open. The Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio has hosted this precursor to the Masters since 2019 and offers players a final opportunity to play their way into the field for the Masters by winning this event, if the winner is not already qualified.

The top of the salary structure for DFS fantasy golf was again impacted by a late withdrawal after Collin Morikawa withdrew on Tuesday, but the field still has plenty of strong names at the top of the salary spectrum. For more info on the field, the format, and the unique challenge of Texas-style golf in San Antonio, check out this First Look from RotoGrinders.

Especially in large-field GPP tournaments, you’ll want to make sure to target players who have lower ownership projections than their potential performance suggests. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for GPP success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.

Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week to week than a hot putter.

Since these are GPP picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. To find guidance for all contest types, check out our full Daily Fantasy Golf coverage each week.

No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for GPP play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.

As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

Check out my top picks in each price range listed below.

Editor’s note: SimLeverage and Perfect% numbers may change after this piece is published. Be sure to check the PGA Models for any updates to the sims.

Robert MacIntyre $9,900

With the wind and weather in the forecast this week, it could be a great week for the lefty from Scotland to step up and shine in San Antonio. Robert MacIntyre has the fourth-highest Perfect% in the field and the highest SimLeverage, since his ownership projection is outside of the top 8.

MacIntyre has played this event just once in his career, finishing T35 in 2022. Since then, he has won twice on the PGA TOUR and twice on the DP World Tour. He claimed the DS Automobiles Italian Open in September of 2022 in a playoff win over Matt Fitzpatrick. He also triumphed at the RBC Canadian Open and the Genesis Scottish Open in 2024 on the PGA TOUR and added the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October of last year.

Since winning last October, MacIntyre started 2026 with several solid finishes. He had 4 top-25 finishes in 6 events and has made the cut every week he has played. He has taken the last 2 weeks off, following a solo 4th-place finish at THE PLAYERS, his best finish of the year.

MacIntyre ranks 2nd in the field over the last 3 months in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee with a good blend of accuracy and distance. Accuracy is slightly more important this week based on the course setup, but good driving overall is imperative. He ranks 5th in Total Strokes Gained per round over the last 3 months as well and 3rd in that stretch in Strokes Gained: Putting.

With his background of playing in Scotland, playing in the wind should give him an advantage. The last 2 winners on this course – Brian Harman and Akshay Bhatia – are two of the very few left-handed golfers on the PGA TOUR, so playing from the other side of the ball may give Bobby Mac an edge this week as well.

He’s not the lowest-risk play near the top of the board, but for GPP lineups, he brings a very high ceiling and plenty of win equity as a pay–up play to build around.

Si Woo Kim $9,600

Si Woo Kim has the third-highest SimLeverage in the field, just behind MacIntyre. He actually has an even stronger ceiling projection than Bobby Mac, but he also has a slightly higher ownership projection.

Kim comes into the week after a few slower weeks but still ranks highly in critical categories for this week. He started 2026 dialed in, posting a T11 in Hawaii, a T6 at the American Express, a T2 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and a T3 at the WM Phoenix Open. He cooled off after those 4 top-12 finishes with a T45 at Pebble Beach and a T34 at The Genesis but posted a strong T13 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational before a T50 at THE PLAYERS.

Kim ranks 2nd in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last 3 months and leads the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green. He also ranks 3rd in the field in Driving Accuracy over that time span. His biggest liability has been his putter, but that showed positive signs in his last tournament, as he gained more strokes on the green than at any other 2026 event.

If his putter continues to trend up, he will be set for success in San Antonio. Kim missed the cut at this event last year but made the cut in his previous 6 trips, highlighted by a T4 in 2019 and a T13 in 2022. Kim’s accuracy and shotmaking give him a high floor and a high ceiling this week, so he can be a solid pivot option in the top group as many players focus on other players over $9,000.
