Week 14 NFL Stacks: Look to Russell Wilson, D.K. Metcalf for Big Performances

This piece will identify some of my favorite DFS stacks of the weekend. Be sure to use our Stacking Tool found within our Player Models to find the highest projected stacks, the stacks that figure to be chalky, and more. Our Correlations page is also a great resource to find hidden edges in stacking positions and games.

Quarterback + Wide Receiver + Opposing Wide Receiver

  • Russell Wilson ($7900 DraftKings, $9000 FanDuel)
  • D.K. Metcalf ($8400 DraftKings, $8600 FanDuel)
  • Jamison Crowder ($5400 DraftKings, $6600 FanDuel)

It’s time to let Russ cook again.

After a scalding hot start to the season, the Seahawks signal-caller has failed to produce above the overall QB10 in five consecutive weeks. He now faces a Jets defense that was among the most generous in the league to opposing fantasy quarterbacks before firing their defensive coordinator.

The Jets are allowing the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers. D.K. Metcalf has enjoyed a breakout sophomore season with the most receiving yards (1,119) and completed air yards (823) at the position, while ranking third with 18.9 fantasy points per game.

The Seahawks have lost three of their past five games and will look to right the ship with a big performance against Gang Green.

In a game with a 13.5-point spread, I expect the Jets to be playing from behind most of the game. This supports the bring-back of Jamison Crowder to complete this stack. The return of quarterback Sam Darnold gives a boost to Crowder, who has seen a dramatic increase in his production when Darnold is on the field.

Using the FantasyLabs optimizer, I generated the following FanDuel lineup, giving me exposure to explosive wideout Tyreek Hill and Bears running back David Montgomery in a great matchup.

The lack of recent production by Wilson suppresses his projected ownership in favorable matchup against a Jets team in disarray.

Quarterback + Running Back + Opposing Running Back

  • Mike Glennon ($5100 DraftKings, $6600 FanDuel)
  • James Robinson ($8700 DraftKings, $8000 FanDuel)
  • Derrick Henry ($7500 DraftKings, $9,600 FanDuel)

Mike Glennon certainly may not be sexy, but he’s an intriguing DFS play in a Titans-Jaguars game with the second-highest over/under on the Sunday slate.

Glennon has attempted 35 and 42 pass attempts respectively in his first two games, and produced the overall QB12 performance in his first home start against the Browns. However, Jacksonville has so many different receiving options, it doesn’t make sense to force one in this stack, when you can just pivot to do-everything, high volume running back James Robinson.

The undrafted rookie from Illinois State has seen one of the highest workloads of any fantasy running back. Robinson ranks third among all running backs in rushing yards (968) while ranking fifth in targets (56). Per PlayerProfiler, Robinson ranks first at the position with an 86% opportunity share.

Regardless of the game script, Robinson will be heavily involved in the Jacksonville offense. That level of security makes him a solid stacking foundation piece regardless of his high-price.

Despite Derrick Henry’s exorbitant price tag, it’s difficult to find another running back with guaranteed volume and multiple touchdowns in his likely range of outcomes. Henry’s yards per carry always increase late in the season, and Week 13’s 178-yard, three touchdown performance should serve as the beginning of that upcoming stretch.

However, a disappointing RB41 performance against Cleveland, may leave DFS players with hesitancy to return to rush-heavy, low reception running back. I can’t see Henry putting forth two consecutive disappointing performances, especially against a Jacksonville defense that he historically owns.

The Jaguars have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, setting up Henry for yet another smash spot.

With an expensive running back like Henry, we need to pay down at other positions, ideally at quarterback. This makes the Glennon play essential, and has allowed me to create the following DraftKings lineup using our FantasyLabs optimizer:

This also gave me exposure to the big-play upside of Green Bay’s Davante Adams, and volume-heavy slot receivers CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Boyd.

Two bad defenses in one of the projected highest-scoring matchups in Week 14, makes this stack a unique option with multi-touchdown upside.

Running Back + Defense/Special Teams

  • Ronald Jones ($6,100 DraftKings, $6,300 FanDuel)
  • Buccaneers D/ST ($2,900 DraftKings, $4,100 FanDuel)

Ronald Jones enters Week 14 with the fourth-most rushing yards (820) and 16th-most targets (40) on the season. The impact of veteran Leonard Fournette has been minimal, especially when the Buccaneers have seen positive game scripts. This remains the key to the success of this stack.

I expect a strong effort from a Buccaneers team desperate for a victory coming off their bye week. Tampa Bay has lost three of its past four games, sitting in a treacherous position as the sixth NFC playoff team with the Vikings just one game behind.

The Buccaneers’ run defense has been elite all season, allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. Minnesota’s offensive line has allowed the ninth-highest adjusted sack rate per FootballOutsiders, which could lead trouble against a strong Buccaneers front seven.

With a 6.5-point spread, this profiles as a Tampa Bay win with the second-highest game total of 52.5 points. Over the past seven weeks, Jones does two overall RB5 or better games. This is a pick based on game script, that could have a huge upside.

I was able to use the optimizer positional rules and player correlations to generate a DraftKings lineup that gives me exposure to some top wide receiver options.
