Pitcher DFS Picks: Fade Misiorowski, Back Rasmussen
Both starters come in with huge reputations, but their respective October numbers point in opposite directions. I take the under on Milwaukee’s ace and the over on Tampa Bay’s.
Misiorowski Lower Than 6.5 Strikeouts
- Misiorowski led the majors with 252 strikeouts in the regular season, but his swing-and-miss stuff has faded. His four-seam whiff rate fell from 40% to 16% in the playoffs.
- He needed 182 pitches to record 8⅓ postseason innings, and hitters have fouled off 28% of his pitches.
- He has not made it out of the fifth inning in either playoff start. That caps his strikeout volume, even though he did collect 11 in those 8⅓ innings.
- Milwaukee has not played since Oct. 15, so he arrives with a long layoff.
Rasmussen Higher Than 6.5 Strikeouts
- Rasmussen has 23 strikeouts and only three walks over 21 postseason innings, with three quality starts.
- He went 11-0 with a 1.73 ERA across 15 starts after the All-Star break.
- In ALCS Game 5, he allowed one run over seven innings to push Tampa Bay toward the pennant.
- Milwaukee drafted him before trading him away, so he knows this lineup. The Brewers have also sat idle for more than a week, which tends to dull timing against power arms.
Brewers DFS Picks: Contreras Up, Chourio Down
