PGA DFS: Top Cash Game Picks for The Farmers Insurance Open

The Farmers Insurance Open will be played at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, which has been the home of this event since 1968. Each golfer of this 145-man field will play one round on the South Course (par 72, 7,765 yards, POA greens) and the North Course (par 72, 7,258 yards, bentgrass greens) of Torrey Pines. Afterwards, there will be a top-65 and ties cut, and the final two rounds will be played at the South Course. At last year’s Farmers Insurance Open, Harris English (-8) won by one stroke. In addition to hosting three of four rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open, the South Course hosted last year’s Genesis Invitational, won by Ludvig Aberg, and the 2021 U.S. Open, won by Jon Rahm.

The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.

I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.

My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.

Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.

There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:

  • Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
  • Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
  • Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
  • Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
  • Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green

Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.

The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.

And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup OptimizerLineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

PGA DFS Cash Game Thoughts

DraftKings $10,000 Range

Xander Schauffele ($10,500)

Schauffele easily could have been priced higher this week and is a great building block for cash games. After tying for the most points for Team USA at the Ryder Cup, Schauffele carried this momentum over to the Baycurrent Classic in November and secured his 10th career win. Schauffele has finished inside the top-10 in three of his past five starts, and the Farmers Insurance Open is a perfect event for him to start his 2026 campaign with a bang. Schauffele has finished inside the top-15 at three of the past four Farmers Insurance Opens — including a runner-up in 2021 — and he finished T7th at the 2021 U.S. Open at the South Course of Torrey Pines.

DraftKings $9,000 Range

Si Woo Kim ($9,500)

Kim’s impressive play continued at the American Express last week with a T6 finish. The 30-year-old has now made nine straight cuts worldwide, and all of those finishes have come inside the top-25. Kim has only shot over par once in his last 16 rounds, and the key to his success has been his incredible ball striking: Kim ranks first in SG: Tee-to-Green when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds. Kim has made 5-of-7 cuts at the Farmers Insurance Open with four top-30 finishes and is a threat to contend for the second week in a row.

Hideki Matsuyama ($9,300)

Matsuyama has made 15 consecutive cuts and began his 2026 season with a T13 finish at the Sony Open two weeks ago, following his win at the Hero World Challenge. Matsuyama now heads to Torrey Pines, where he has made 10-of-12 cuts at the Farmers Insurance Open, including five top-20 finishes.

Additionally, Matsuyama finished T13th at last year’s Genesis Invitational, played at the South Course. A huge 25.4% of approach shots at the South Course over the last five years have come from 200+ yards, and Matsuyama is deadly from this distance, ranking fifth in proximity to the hole on 200+ yard approach shots last season.

Now available: our PGA DFS SimLabs Lineup Generator that creates advanced DFS lineups using the power of simulation.

DraftKings $8,000 Range

Max Homa ($8,300)

Homa has made five straight cuts with three top-20 finishes during his streak, and he ranks fifth in the field in SG: Approach over the last 24 rounds. Homa’s game is in great shape right now, and being born and raised in California, the six-time PGA TOUR winner always gears up for events in his home state. Four of Homa’s wins have come in California, including a two-shot victory at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open. Excluding his withdrawal last season, Homa has carded a top-20 finish in four of his last five starts at this event.

Adam Scott ($8,100)

Scott’s resume at Torrey Pines is exceptional. The Aussie has finished runner-up and T10th in his two starts at the Farmers Insurance Open, and he also finished T35th at the 2021 U.S. Open at the South Course. Scott has a 7-under 65 on his resume at the difficult South Course and is a great bargain at this $8,100 salary. Scott just finished T24th at the American Express last week, marking his 16th made cut in his last 17 starts worldwide.

DraftKings $7,000 Range

Sam Stevens ($7,800)

Stevens has been stellar at Torrey Pines. The 29-year-old is 3-for-3 in made cuts at the Farmers Insurance Open, most impressively with a runner-up finish last year. Stevens also finished T31st at the 2025 Genesis Invitational played at the South Course. Stevens now returns to Torrey Pines sitting at a career-best No. 40 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has finished T7th, T31st and T6th in his last three starts, with that latter finish coming at last week’s American Express, in which Stevens gained strokes across the board in La Quinta. In this outstanding form, Stevens brings top-10 upside this week.

Nicolai Hojgaard ($7,500)

Hojgaard finished runner-up in his lone start at the Farmers Insurance Open two years ago, and the Dane has been on fire recently with four top-15 finishes in his last five starts worldwide. Hojgaard just finished T4th at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic last week and provides a great combination of safety and upside at only $7,500.

Sahith Theegala ($7,400)

Theegala closed last week’s American Express with a 7-under, en route to a T8 finish, marking his best showing on the PGA TOUR in over a year. Theegala has made six of his last seven cuts and ranks 13th in the field in total strokes gained over his last 24 rounds. In addition to his game trending up right now, Theegala has been strong at Torrey Pines, making him one of the best values on the board at only $7,400. Theegala is a perfect 4-for-4 in made cuts at the Farmers Insurance Open, most notably with a T4 in 2023, and he finished T17th at the Genesis Invitational played at the South Course last season.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,300)

At this price, Bezuidenhout is an excellent value play in cash games. The ultra-consistent player has made 11 consecutive cuts worldwide, and six of these finishes have been top-20 results. Bezuidenhout has shot under par in 11 straight rounds, and he ranks 15th in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds. Now, Bezuidenhout heads to Torrey Pines, where he has made 3-of-4 cuts in events played at this famous venue, with a T31st at the 2021 U.S. Open being his best showing.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range

Sami Valimaki ($6,800)

Prior to missing the cut at last week’s American Express, Valimaki secured his first PGA TOUR win at the RSM Classic in his previous start. Last week was Valmaki’s only missed cut in his last five starts, and he has finished inside the top-20 three times during this span. Valimaki has finished T43rd and T15th in his two starts at the Farmers Insurance Open, and he should get back on track this week at Torrey Pines.
