NBA Trend of the Day: Centers With a Bargain Rating Above 90

We truly believe here at FantasyLabs that we have the most unique tools and data available to DFS users. However, we also realize that those tools and data are only as awesome and helpful as our ability to effectively communicate how to use everything. As such, we will continually listen to feedback of what you need and try our best to teach our subscribers how to use all of the cool things we have to offer.

With this in mind, we’ve begun a “Trend of the Day” series. Every weekday we’ll walk our subscribers through an important trend for that day’s slate of games.

I woke up this morning and opened up everyone’s favorite Model, the Phan Model. It is no surprise to see three centers in the top five players ranked on DraftKings. The soft pricing at that position leaves us typically being able to find centers at a bargain price. Tonight, we have five centers, three of which are currently ranked in the top five in the Phan Model, with a bargain rating above 90. So I thought to myself, how about we take a closer look at that by turning to the Trends tool.

Trend: Centers with a Bargain Rating Above 90

First, let’s take a look at how all players have performed when they have a bargain rating above 90.

Step 1: Trends > Bargain Ratings > Set to “90 to 100”

No surprise here as we see players have a Plus/Minus of +1.98 when they have such a high bargain rating, but how has each individual position performed in this situation?

Step 2: Player Filters > Position > Sort by “Avg +/-“ > Select “C”

Not groundbreaking news, but it is noteworthy to see that being in the top 10% of bargain rating performs better at some positions than it does for others. Now that we have center selected, let’s take a look which centers have a bargain rating above 90 tonight.

Step 3: Select “Current Matches”

We have five matches for tonight’s slate and at most, we would only be able to roster two of them on DraftKings. Two things do stick out to me, and that is that three of the five players are above $7,000 and the other two are below $6,000 – offering some extra roster flexibility. That savings available in taking the two cheaper options will come at a cost of seven to 10 fewer projected minutes, which should be taken into consideration.

To wrap this up, we can take a look at how each of these players have handled such a high Bargain Rating in the past.

Step 4: Player Filters > Player Name

Once on this page, we can see how each player performed when in this Trend. I will save you guys the trouble of scrolling around to locate the five players that it applies to tonight and throw together a picture of those five players below.

There we have it. We kept it simple today (word to Bill). Let us know what interesting things you find when digging through the Trends tool.

Good luck tonight!
