After a week off, the PGA TOUR is back this week with the World Wide Technology Championship. For the third year in a row, this tournament will be played at El Cardonal at Diamante (par 72, 7,452 yards, paspalum greens) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which was designed by Tiger Woods. Last season, Austin Eckroat (-24) won the World Wide Technology Championship by one stroke. There will be 120 players competing this week, and a standard top-65-and-ties cut following the first two rounds.
The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.
I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.
My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.
Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.
There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:
- Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
- Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
- Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
- Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
- Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
- Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green
Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.
The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.
And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup Optimizer, Lineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

DraftKings $10,000 Range
Ben Griffin ($10,500)
Griffin is a great building block for cash games this week. The 29-year-old has finished inside the top 25 in both of his starts at El Cardonal, and Griffin now returns to the venue as the No. 12 ranked player in the world, which is 57 spots higher than when he teed it up at El Cardonal a year ago. Griffin has won twice since then, and he has been on the cusp of winning again as of late. Griffin has finished inside the top 12 in five of his last six starts, most notably with a runner-up finish at the Procore Championship in September. Griffin ranks first in Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, and he has shot under par in 21 of his last 24 rounds. Griffin faces a weak field at the World Wide Technology Championship, and he is a lock to finish inside the top five considering the competition.
DraftKings $9,000 Range
Max Greyserman ($9,800)
Greyserman nearly won the Baycurrent Classic in his last start, finishing runner-up to Xander Schauffele by one shot. At Yokohama CC that week, Greyserman carded an 8-under 63 in the second round, and he gained strokes across the board. This marked Greyserman’s 10th top-25 finish of the season,, and he now brings this form to El Cardonal, where he finished T4th in his first attempt at the par 72 last season. Evident from this high finish, Greyseman has a knack for contending at low-scoring events, and he should flourish at El Cardonal once again this week.
Garrick Higgo ($9,300)
Higgo is a cash game staple this week. The stellar ball striker finished T6th at El Cardonal last season, and he has been on fire recently, finishing T7th, runner-up, and T4th in his last three starts, in that order. Higgo has gained strokes on approach and with his putter at all of these events, and he has shot under par in all but one of these past 12 rounds. Higgo ranks second in Total Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, and he should contend for his second win of the year in this outstanding form.

DraftKings $8,000 Range
Pierceson Coody ($8,600)
Coody missed the cut at El Cardonal last season, but he now returns to the venue 76 spots higher in the world golf rankings and playing the best golf of his career. Coody has finished T3rd, MC, T14th, and T3rd in his last four starts, with that final finish coming at the Bank of Utah Championship two weeks ago. Pierceson ranks fourth in par four performance and ninth in 450-500-yard par four performance when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, setting him up nicely for El Cardonal, where six of the 10 par fours range from 450 to 500 yards.
Matt Kuchar ($8,200)
Kuchar has been consistent this season, making 13 of 15 cuts, and he has recorded three top-20 finishes in his last four starts. Kuchar last finished T18th at the Sanderson Farms Championship last month, and he gained strokes with both his irons and putter that week. Kuchar ranks 14th in SG: Putting this season, which is a great sign for an easy course like El Cardonal, and his success at this venue should continue this week. At El Cardonal, Kuchar has finished runner-up and T30th.

DraftKings $7,000 Range
Austin Eckroat ($7,800)
Eckroat is an excellent bargain in his title defense at the World Wide Technology Championship this week. Before winning this event last season, he finished T23rd in his first start at El Cardonal the previous year. Eckroat has shot 69 or better in all eight of his rounds at this coastal track, including a 9-under 63 to conclude his victory last season. Eckroat now returns to El Cardonal as the maker of 10 of his past 13 cuts – including a T11 at the Procore Championship in September – and in strong form as a ball striker, as he ranks eighth in SG: Approach when we analyze this field’s last 24 rounds.
Doug Ghim ($7,500)
Ghim has made six of his last eight cuts with four top-30 finishes during this span, and he has performed very well at El Cardonal the last two years, finishing T15th and T20th. Ghim ranks 12th in SG:Tee-to-Green this season, and he ranks 16th in Total Strokes Gained when we analyze this field’s histories at venues with paspalum greens. Ghim should produce another solid finish at El Cardonal this week, and you can’t go wrong with him at this cheap price.
Sam Ryder ($7,400)
Ryder is a terrific combination of strong current form and course history, making him an easy choice for cash games at this low salary. Ryder has only missed one cut in his last seven starts, and four of these finishes have been top-30 results. Ryder ranks ninth in SG: Putting this season, at El Cardonal, he has finished T10th and T30th, while shooting 69 or better in all but one of these rounds, including an 8-under 64.
Greyson Sigg ($7,100)
Sigg has finished T19th, T21st and T15th in his last three starts, in that order, and he has gained strokes on approach at all these events. Sigg has shot under par in nine consecutive rounds, and he has been outstanding at courses with paspalum greens throughout his career, with five top-25 finishes in eight starts. Siggs did miss the cut in his lone start at El Cardonal two years ago, but this is only the second time he has missed the cut at a track with paspalum putting surfaces in his career, so this was likely an outlier performance, and he should redeem himself at El Cardonal this week with a quality finish.
DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range
David Lipsky ($6,700)
Lipsky finished T6th at El Cardonal last year, and he has only failed to make the cut once in his last nine starts. Lipsky has finished inside the top 40 in five of these starts, including a T33rd at the Bank of Utah Championship two weeks ago, and during this finish, he gained strokes on approach and with his putter at the Black Desert Resort. Looking to build off this performance, Lipsky is a safe bet to make the cut this week.
