Preseason Week 4 Breakdown: Lock In Nick Brossette

All 16 Week 4 preseason games take place on Thursday, Aug. 28 and kick off between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET. Rather than break up the slate, DraftKings and FanDuel are both offering only a slate containing the full 16 games.

How to approach Week 4

In Week 4 we’re essentially looking for situations where a third-stringer is likely to play the whole game or close to it. This tends to occur in situations where a team is thin at a position due to injury or to having a depth chart full of veterans who will get the evening off, or when a team wants to get as long of a look as possible at players in competition for a roster spot.

As mentioned in my preseason DFS primer, these players generally tend to be first- or second-year players who are undrafted or picked on Day 3. There are exceptions, though. In some cases, teams will be willing to feature a more experienced fringe NFL talent over a younger player in an attempt to sneak that younger player through waivers and onto the practice squad.

The practice squad isn’t an option for players beyond Year 3, so teams considering keeping players without practice-squad eligibility are essentially incentivized to give these players enough snaps to play themselves either on or off the roster.
