The PGA TOUR is hosting the Travelers Championship this week, which is the eighth and final Signature Event of the season. There will be 72 golfers competing for a $20 million purse and this tournament doesn’t feature a cut. Since 1984, TPC River Highlands (par 70, 6,385 yards, bentgrass/POA annua greens) in Cromwell, Connecticut, has been the home of the Travelers Championship. Last year, Scottie Scheffler (-22) defeated Tom Kim in a playoff to win the Travelers Championship.
The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.
I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.
My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.
Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.
There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:
- Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
- Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
- Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
- Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
- Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
- Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green
Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.
The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.
And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup Optimizer, Lineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

DraftKings $10,000+ Range
Scottie Scheffler ($13,300)
Paying up for Scheffler is a smart move for cash games this week. The world No. 1 has finished T4th and first at the last two Travelers Championships, and he has won three of the last five tournaments he has competed in. TPC River Highlands was designed by Pete Dye and five of Scheffler’s 16 career wins have come at Dye-designed courses. Scheffler easily ranks first among this field in Strokes Gained per round at Dye venues and on DraftKings Sportsbook, Scheffler leads the field with +280 odds to win this weekend and he is a ridiculous -165 favorite to finish inside the top five. Scheffler would have been viable at over $14,000 and with no cut to worry about this week, finding appealing value plays to help you roster him is an easy task.

DraftKings $9,000 Range
Patrick Cantlay ($9,800)
Cantlay has been excellent at TPC River Highlands. The 33-year-old has finished inside the top 15 at the par 70 seven years in a row. Cantlay has been close to winning at TPC River Highlands the last two years, finishing T4th and T5th, and he ranks fifth in Strokes Gained per round at the venue among the players in this field that have competed at TPC River Highlands more than once. Cantlay has produced seven top-15 finishes in 13 starts this season and he ranks third in 400-450-yard par-4 efficiency when we compare this field’s last 50 rounds, which bodes extremely well for TPC River Highlands, where eight of the 12 par fours fall in this range.
Viktor Hovland ($9,000)
Hovland has finished T11th, T29th, and T20th in his last three starts at TPC River Highlands, and he was in the mix for a win at last week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, finishing T3rd. Hovland finished third in SG: Approach for the major and he has now made seven straight cuts with six top-30 finishes during this streak. Hovland began this run with a win at the Valspar Championship and he is poised to contend this week.
DraftKings $8,000 Range
Keegan Bradley ($8,500)
Bradley won the 2023 Travelers Championship by three shots and he has carded six top-25 finishes in 14 starts at TPC River Highlands. The former FedEx Cup champion has only missed one cut in 14 starts this season and eight of these finishes have come inside the top 25. Bradley ranks fourth in SG: Tee-to-Green this season and he is too cheap for his upside at only $8,500. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Bradley carries +3500 odds to win the Travelers Championship, which are the same odds as Sepp Straka, who costs $700 more at $9,200.
Jordan Speith ($8,300)
Spieth won at TPC River Highlands in 2017 and the three-time major champion’s game is ascending right now. After finishing T7th at the Memorial Tournament, Spieth finished T23rd at the U.S. Open last week while ranking second in SG: Approach for the event. Spieth has finished inside the top 25 eight times in 15 starts this season and his ball striking has been tremendous, with the former Texas Longhorn ranking 18th in SG: Tee-to-Green. Spieth is a threat to contend this week and a great bargain at this salary.
DraftKings $7,000 Range
Cameron Young ($7,800)
Young is on a tear right now, with three top-seven finishes in his last five starts, including a T4 at the U.S. Open last week. The 28-year-old will now look to carry this momentum over to TPC River Highlands, where he finished T9th last season. Young ranks 10th in SG: Putting this season and his elite work on the greens sets him perfectly for the susceptible TPC River Highlands, where having a hot flat is vital for success. Three of the last five Travelers winners have finished the event top five in SG: Putting and Young is a must-play at this affordable price tag.
Daniel Berger ($7,500)
Berger has finished inside the top five in two of his four starts at TPC River Highlands and the veteran is in the midst of a great season, with 10 top-30 finishes in 16 starts. Berger has particularly performed well at signature events, with four top-15 finishes in five starts at these elevated tournaments, with his best finish being a T3 at the RBC Heritage in March. This event was played at another Dye design in Harbour Town Golf Links and Berger ranks 15th in par four performance this season, which sets him up well for TPC River Highlands. This course is a standard par 70 with 12 par fours and four of the last five winners here have finished the tournament top five in par-4 efficiency.
Rickie Fowler ($7,200)
Fowler is currently playing his best golf of the season. The 36-year-old has finished T15th, MC, T16th and T7th in his last four starts, and two of these finishes have come at signature events. That latter T7 finish came at the Memorial Tournament and Fowler gained strokes in every major category at the challenging Muirfield Village that week. Looking to build off this at TPC River Highlands, Fowler is an awesome value play this week. At this Dye creation, the veteran has recorded four top-20 finishes in seven starts.
Brian Harman ($7,200)
Harman is an easy choice for cash games at this low salary. The veteran has made 14 of 17 cuts with five top-25 finishes this season, most notably with a win at the Valero Texas Open and a T3 at the RBC Heritage, which, as noted above, is played at another Dye-designed course in Harbour Town Golf Links. In general, Harman loves competing at Dye courses, especially TPC River Highlands. The 38-year-old has tallied seven top-10 finishes in his last 10 starts at this par 70 and Harman ranks eighth in Strokes Gained per round when we compare this field’s histories at Dye designs.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range
Max Greyserman ($6,900)
While Greyserman has never played at TPC River Highlands before, the Duke product is in great form, and he is a compelling target at this cheap price tag. Greyserman finished T23rd at the demanding Oakmont Country Club for last week’s U.S. Open, which is the sixth time in his last seven starts that he has finished T33rd or better. Greyserman ranks top-25 in both Birdie or Better % and SG: Putting when we analyze this field’s last 24 rounds, and the 30-year-old should thrive in the low-scoring conditions of TPC River Highlands.
Andrew Novak ($6,700)
Novak lost to Justin Thomas in a playoff at the Dye-designed Harbour Town Golf Links in April, which is just one of his four top-10 finishes this season. Novak has finished T17th or better in four of his six starts at signature events and he ranks ninth in the FedEx Cup standings this season. Novak has finished T46th and MC in his two starts at TPC River Highlands, but he is a totally different class of player nowadays. Novak sits at No.35 in the world golf rankings, which is the highest he has ranked prior to a Travelers Championship by a whopping 218 spots. Novak simply is underpriced for his talent and can be confidently rostered in cash games this week.
