PGA DFS: Top Cash Game Picks for the Sanderson Farms Championship

For the first event following the Ryder Cup, the PGA TOUR is hosting the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson (par 72, 7,461 yards, Bermuda greens) in Jackson, Missouri, which has been the host of this event since 2015. Kevin Yu (-23) is the defending champion of the Sanderson Farms Championship and for this week, there will be 132 players competing and a top-65 and ties cut following the first two rounds.

The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.

I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.

My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.

Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.

There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:

  • Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
  • Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
  • Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
  • Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
  • Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green

Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.

The Cliffs Notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.

And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup OptimizerLineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

DraftKings $9,000 Range

Davis Thompson ($9,700)

Instead of paying up for the highest-priced player, Akshay Bhatia ($10,100), who is barely the favorite this week, starting your cash game lineup with a few players from the stacked $9,000 range is a smart move, with Thompson being one of the top options. The 26-year-old has never missed a cut in three tries at the CC of Jackson – most notably with a T16 in 2013 – and Thompson is in great form. In his last two starts, Thompson has finished T11th at the Wyndham Championship and T19th at the Procore Championship. The Georgia product shot under par in all eight of these rounds and he gained over 4.0 strokes off the tee at both of these events. Thompson ranks 15th on the PGA TOUR in total driving, setting him up well for the CC of Jackson, which is a long venue that has always favored elite drivers of the golf ball. Notably, two of the last five winners at the CC of Jackson have led their fields in SG: Off-the-Tee.

Michael Thorbjornsen ($9,500)

Thorbjornsen flourished in his first attempt at the CC of Jackson last season with a T8 finish, including an opening round 9-under 63, which tied Thorbjornsen’s career low. Now, the 24-year-old returns to the CC of Jackson sitting 136 spots higher in the world golf rankings and playing the best golf of his career. Thorbjornsen has only missed two cuts in his last 12 solo starts with five top-25 finishes during this span, including a T13 at the Procore Championship two weeks ago. Thorbjornsen ranks first in Total Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and he has a knack for coming alive in the fall time, as Thorbjornsen ranks first in Strokes Gained per round when we analyze this field’s histories during the fall. Thorbjornsen checks every box this week and he should contend for his first PGA TOUR win.

Now available: our PGA DFS SimLabs Lineup Generator that creates advanced DFS lineups using the power of simulation.

DraftKings $8,000 Range

Garrick Higgo ($8,200)

Higgo has been excellent, making 11 of his past 13 cuts with five top-30 finishes during this time. Most notably, Higgo just finished T7th at the Procore Championship in his last start, which was a strong field that featured 10 of the 12 members of the USA Ryder Cup team. That week, Higgo gained strokes in every major category, except around the greens. The 26-year-old has made 8 of 10 cuts this season—including his second PGA TOUR win at the Corales Puntacana Championship in April – and Higgo has been great at the CC of Jackson. In his three starts at this par 72, Higgo has finished T3rd, T16th, and MC. Of all the players in this field that have competed at the CC of Jackson more than once, Higgo ranks third in Strokes Gained per round.

Mark Hubbard ($8,000)

Hubbard has made 5 of 7 cuts at the CC of Jackson with two top-six finishes in his last three starts at the venue. Hubbard has a 5-under 65 on his resume at the CC of Jackson and the veteran has been a great cut maker over the last few months, missing only one cut in his last 13 solo starts. Hubbard has carded five top-15 finishes during this stretch and he has gained strokes on approach and with his putter at three straight events. Hubbard would have been viable at $9,000 this week and he is one of the best plays on the board at only $8,000.

Beau Hossler ($8,000)

Hossler has advanced to the weekend in 18 of his 22 solo starts this season and he has impressively produced four top-15 finishes in his last six starts. Hossler ranks third in Total Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and he brings this superb form to the CC Jackson, where he has never missed a cut in four starts and finished runner-up last season, when he lost in a playoff to Yu. Hossler ranks sixth in Strokes Gained per round at the CC of Jackson among the players in this field that have teed it up more than once at the track and he is an elite value play at this affordable price tag.

DraftKings $7,000 Range

Patrick Fishburn ($7,800)

Fishburn finished a respectable T48th in his Sanderson Farms Championship debut last season, but it’s safe to expect a better result from him this week. Fishburn has made six cuts in a row and three of these finishes have been top-20 results. The 30-year-old ranks second in Total Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and he has flashed great upside during the fall swing in the past, with three top-12 finishes from September to November last year.

Vince Whaley ($7,800)

Whaley finished T16th at last year’s Sanderson Farms Championship and he is a perfect 6-for-6 in made cuts at the CC of Jackson. Whaley now returns to the par 72 as the maker of 12 solo cuts in a row with four top-30 finishes during this streak. The 30-year-old gained strokes across the board in his last start and Whaley is a great bargain at this sub-$8,000salary.

Antoine Rozner ($7,000)

While Rozner has never competed at the CC of Jackson before, the 32-year-old is an extremely consistent player that should advance through the cut this week. Rozner has only missed one cut in his last 19 starts worldwide and he is on the heels of a T12 at the Open de France last week. Overall, Rozner has shot under par in seven of his last eight rounds.

Lanto Griffin ($7,000)

Griffin made some serious noise at the Procore Championship two weeks ago, finishing 3rd, and for the event, he finished top seven in both SG: Approach and SG: Putting. Griffin has now finished inside the top 25 in three of his past four starts and he ranks 11th in Total Strokes Gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds. Griffin has finished T11th, MC, and T28th in his last three starts at the CC of Jackson, and he is a very safe bet to make the cut this week.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range

Luke List ($6,800)

List loves competing at the CC of Jackson. The bomber won here two years ago and he finished runner-up at this venue in 2016. List has made 6 of 8 cuts at the CC of Jackson and he is gaining a strong 1.1 strokes per round at the par 72. List has been inconsistent in 2025, but he showed some serious signs of life at the Procore Championship two weeks ago, finishing T30th, while gaining strokes in every major category. Looking to build off this performance at the CC of Jackson, List has top-25 upside this week and is a great target at this $6,800 price tag, which is the cheapest he has been on DraftKings for a Sanderson Farms Championship by $500.

Be sure to check out all the pick’ems Sleeper has to offer with Sleeper promo code FL55.

David Skinns ($6,700)

Skinns finished T37th at the CC of Jackson last season, marking his second made cut in three starts at the venue and he has only failed to make the cut once in his last 11 solo starts entering this week. Skinns has provided four top-30 finishes during this run and he ranks 13th in Total Strokes Gained when we analyze this field’s last 24 rounds. Skinns has gained strokes on approach at five consecutive tournaments and he has top-30 upside in this type of form as a ball striker.
