Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt could be facing suspension or release after TMZ released surveillance video of Hunt shoving and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel in February.
While we don’t know what discipline Hunt will face — the Chiefs nor NFL have responded at the time of writing — you should move to pick up Spencer Ware as soon as possible if if he’s available in your league.

There are no bye weeks remaining, and the starting running back for the league’s highest-scoring offense holds RB1 potential entering the most important stretch of the fantasy season.
Even a handcuff of your current No. 1 running back isn’t as important as the potential featured back for Patrick Mahomes & Co.
Hunt, who had 11 carries inside the 5-yard line, joins Sony Michel (10), Carlos Hyde (11), James Conner (12), Alvin Kamara (12) and Todd Gurley (15) as the only running backs with double-digit rush attempts at the goal line.
Adding to Ware’s potential fantasy value is a fairly cozy schedule to end the season:
- Week 13 at Raiders: 24th in average PPR points allowed to RBs per game
- Week 14 vs. Ravens: 1st
- Week 15 vs. Chargers: 14th
- Week 16 at Seahawks: 21st
Overall, the Chiefs boast one of the friendly schedules for a running back over the next month of football.
Ware has been on the Chiefs for three seasons and led the team in rushing as recently as 2016 with 921 yards and three touchdowns on 214 carries with 4.3 yards per attempt. Ware has eaten into Hunt’s receiving work this season and offers true three-down potential.
The only concern with Ware is that he doesn’t offer the same ceiling as Hunt. Ware has cleared 100 rushing yards in only two of his 38 career games, and he has three or fewer receptions in 36 of those games.
Damien Williams, who played for the Dolphins from 2014-17, is next on the depth chart and has had only six touches all season. Undrafted free-agent rookie Darrel Williams doesn’t have a career touch.
Ware isn’t the most dynamic or athletic running back, but if Hunt is suspended, Ware’s role as the featured three-down back on the league’s highest-powered offense makes him a potential league-winning addition off the waiver wire.
