After a couple of weeks in the Midwest, the PGA TOUR is headed across the Atlantic Ocean for this week’s Genesis Scottish Open. It’s an important week of preparation for the final major championship of the season, which will be held next week in Ireland at Royal Portrush Golf Club. Before that, though, the best pros from the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour will tee it up for this co-sanctioned event at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
The course is a par 70 along the famous coastline off the Firth of Forth that has hosted this event for each of the last six years. It’s an important week for players on both tours, and the top three finishers who are not already exempt will earn the final spots at The Open. Especially in large-field GPP tournaments, you’ll want to make sure to target players who have lower ownership projections than their potential performance. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for GPP success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.
All Strokes Gained metrics referenced are from the Rabbit Hole.
Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week-to-week than a hot putter.
Since these are GPP picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for GPP play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.
As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

Scottie Scheffler $13,100
Although he’s by far the most expensive option in the field, our projections love Scottie in Scotland this week. He has the top ceiling, median, and floor projections by a wide margin, and he also has the highest Perfect% at 47.1%, more than double the Perfect% of anyone else except Rory McIlroy($11,400). He also matches more Pro Trends than any other golfer in the field and has the shortest odds on the board for winning and finishing in the top 10.
Scheffler’s ownership projection is surprisingly low this week due to his high salary and the fact that he didn’t win in his last two starts at the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship. Rory’s ownership projection is actually a little higher, making Scheffler a great source of pay-up leverage and giving him the highest SimLeverage on the board by a huge margin.
Scheffler will be playing this event for the first time since 2023, when he finished T3. He missed the cut in 2022 but added another top-15 finish in 2021. He has a solid course history here, and he comes in with absolutely excellent form.
In his 14 tournaments this season, he has three wins and 11 top-10 finishes. He has finished in the top 25 in each tournament and leads the field in Total Strokes Gained, Strokes Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and Par 4 Efficiency over the last six months.
Even when he “misses,” he still finishes high on the leaderboard, with a T7 at the U.S. Open and a T6 at the Travelers in his last two starts. He’s a top leverage play to build around since everyone else is getting so much attention this week in Scotland.

Ludvig Aberg $9,400
Aberg has the second-highest SimLeverage of all golfers $7,500 or more. He has the fifth-highest Perfect% and just the 20th-highest ownership projection. Aberg is a little out of form, which is why the public is looking elsewhere this week, but he always brings a very high ceiling.
In his 15 events on the PGA TOUR this season, the 25-year-old has made 11 cuts and posted six top-25 finishes, including his win at The Genesis Invitational. He also finished seventh at the Masters after a late collapse cost him a few spots. He has made the cut in six of his eight starts dating back to that week at Augusta, missing the cut at the two majors but finishing in the top 20 at the Memorial and the RBC Canadian Open.
Aberg finished T4 at this course last year, after missing the cut in his 2023 debut. He was the 54-hole leader but couldn’t keep up with Scotland’s own Robert MacIntyre on Sunday.
According to his Strokes Gained numbers, his ball striking is in good form, but he needs to improve on and around the greens.
When he’s at his best, Aberg has a very high ceiling and the chance to contend on any track, which makes him a great target for GPP lineups when he’s sliding in under the radar like he is this week.
