Wyndham Championship: Top PGA DFS Picks, Values, and Sleepers for Large-Field Tournaments on DraftKings

The PGA TOUR is just one week away from the FedExCup Playoffs, but players have one last chance to play their way into the postseason or to get their games tuned up for a playoff push at this week’s Wyndham Championship. The Wyndham has been a regular stop on the PGA TOUR since 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, and has been the last event before the playoffs since 2007.

Last year, Cameron Young got his breakthrough win on the PGA TOUR at this event, cruising to a six-shot win over Mac Meissner. Over the last two weeks, youngsters Jackson Koivun and Michael Thorbjornsen have claimed their first career wins, but will this week have another first-time winner? Which bubble players can move up into the playoffs, which start next week with the top 70 players at the FedEx St. Jude Championship? We’ll find out the answers this week! For more info on the field, the format, and the course for this week, check out this First Look from RotoGrinders.

Especially in large-field tournaments, you’ll want to target players with lower ownership projections than their potential performance suggests. Finding high-leverage plays is critical for tournament success, so the picks here go against the grain, looking for under-owned options.

Usually, I rely heavily on the Strokes Gained Model in FantasyLabs, which is very predictive of results. I also tend to lean toward players who excel in Strokes Gained: Approach, which is more sustainable week to week than a hot putter.

Since these are tournament picks, we can accept more risk in exchange for getting a higher ceiling. High-risk, high-reward options with low ownership create the “boom-or-bust” style lineups that often lead to large-field success. To find guidance for all contest types, check out our full Daily Fantasy Golf coverage each week.

No matter what type of format you prefer, be sure to use the FantasyLabs PGA Models to help you make the best choices. These models use stats and simulations to highlight different players’ strengths and weaknesses. A few critical new stats for tournament play are Perfect% and SimLeverage, which are further explained here.

As you dig into the numbers, you can enjoy the many tools FantasyLabs offers, including the Lineup Optimizer, which effortlessly creates up to 300 lineups. Alternatively, you can use the Lineup Builder if you prefer a more hands-on approach.

High-Priced PGA DFS Picks

Cameron Young $10,400

For the second straight week, Cameron Young has the highest salary in the field, along with the highest median and ceiling projections. He also has the highest ownership projection, but he still brings value: his win equity and strong chance for a high finish remain intact even if he comes up short of defending his title.

He has the highest Perfect% and the highest SimLeverage in the field, and while he’ll likely be a popular play, his salary isn’t so far above everyone else’s that it kills his chance to return value. There’s a strong case that his salary could be much higher, and given his upside, he’s actually a leverage play, provided you can pair him with lower-ownership plays to differentiate elsewhere.

Young has won twice more on the PGA TOUR since his breakthrough win a year ago, claiming THE PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship in high-quality fields. He finished runner-up at The Open Championship a few weeks ago and added a T8 at the Rocket Classic last week. He has eight top-10 finishes and has made the cut every week this season.

At Sedgefield Country Club, Young has played two career events, finishing T22 in 2024 and winning last year. He comes into his third career appearance at this week’s venue leading the field in both SG:T2G and Total Strokes Gained over the last six months and three months. Over the last three months, he also ranks third in SG:APP, and his outstanding shotmaking gives him a chance to contend in any field, any week.

If his putter cooperates a little this week, he has a good chance to defend his title at the Wyndham and roll into the playoffs with plenty of momentum.

Hideki Matsuyama $9,500

Hideki Matsuyama matches the second-most Pro Trends in the field, behind only Young, and he has a positive SimLeverage as well. He hasn’t won this year on the PGA TOUR, but the 34-year-old from Japan is an 11-time PGA TOUR winner, and he arrives in great form at a shotmakers’ course that should fit his game well.

Matsuyama ranks second in the field in SG:T2G and Total Strokes Gained over the last 30 days, and third in SG:ATG. Over the last six months, he ranks sixth in SG:T2G and eighth in SG:APP. He comes in with great form after finishing in the top 15 in four straight events: a T3 at the 3M Open, a T5 at last week’s Rocket Classic, and a T14 at The Open Championship before that. He’ll be playing for his fourth straight week as he tries to get his game ready for the playoffs, and he currently sits at No. 24 in the FedExCup Points list.

Matsuyama has a mixed history at the Wyndham Championship. He finished T3 in 2016 and T11 in 2018, along with a T19 finish last season. However, he has three missed cuts at Sedgefield to go with those three top-20 finishes in his last six appearances at this week’s tournament.

His boom-or-bust results at this week’s venue make him risky for cash lineups, but his current form and proven pedigree make him a high-risk, high-reward play perfectly suited for tournament builds.
