College Football DFS Picks: Week 2 CFB DraftKings Main Slate Breakdown

We’ve got another exciting weekend of college football on tap in Week 2. Several high-profile teams fell by the wayside last week, and none of the top contenders can afford to lose twice early in the season. While several teams have very winnable games on the docket, other programs desperately need a win before heading into conference schedules. Desperation will be a factor, but we’re planting the FantasyLabs flag on the teams and players that will be best prepared for Saturday’s action.

We’ve got you covered for DFS purposes, highlighting our preferred players from Saturday’s main slate.

College football is back at FantasyLabs. Inside our Player Models, you’ll be able to utilize our Lineup Optimizer to effortlessly create up to 300 lineups for your DFS contests.

Here’s a brief snippet of what our models look like:

Let’s dive into this week’s slate!

CFB DFS Quarterback Picks

Kevin Jennings (SMU Mustangs) – $8,000 DraftKings

The Baylor Bears were one of those aforementioned teams that came out flat in Week 1. Baylor was torched by a perennially underachieving Auburn squad, and the Bears’ outlook is even more guarded in Week 2. Kevin Jennings should have no problem moving the SMU Mustangs down the field and should end the day as one of the top-performing quarterbacks.

Jennings was effective in his Week 1 performance versus East Texas A&M. The junior completed 73.3% of his passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. As we’ve grown accustomed to, Jennings was also effective in using his legs, breaking away for 12 yards and a touchdown on just a handful of carries. He finished last season with 354 yards on 101 carries, benchmarks that are easily attainable in 2025.

The Bears don’t have the defensive faculties to limit Jennings’ offensive contributions. They gave up 415 yards of total offense at home last week, including a mind-numbing 307 rushing yards. Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold led the way, churning out 137 yards and two touchdowns on just 16 carries. Surely, Baylor’s outlook is even more disastrous as they embark on their first road contest.

The stage is set, and Jennings is about to enter stage left for one of the best fantasy performances of the weekend. At this price, the Mustangs’ pivot is a virtual must-roster.

Behren Morton (Texas Tech Red Raiders): $8,800 DraftKings

The Texas Tech Red Raiders’ air raid offense is alive and well. Behren Morton led the Big 12 competitors to a convincing 67-7 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Gearing up for their impending conference schedule, we expect Morton to play a vital role in Saturday’s clash versus the Kent State Golden Flashes.

A second-quarter sack ended Morton’s Week 1 appearance partway through the game. Nevertheless, Morton was nothing short of sensational when he was on the field. The Texas native completed 16-of-20 passes for a sharp 80.0% completion percentage while throwing for 201 yards and four touchdowns. While he’s not a typical dual-threat quarterback, we have seen Morton use his legs to his advantage. The four-year starter has accumulated seven rushing touchdowns throughout his tenure with Texas Tech, including four in 2023.

A prototypical gunslinger, Morton will have plenty of chances to air it out versus Kent State. The Golden Flashes are an afterthought in the Group of 5, and let FCS foe Merrimack put up 340 yards of offense in Week 1. Included in that was 176 passing yards from relative unknown Ayden Pereira.

A ‘questionable’ designation could steer DFS punters away from Morton, but the Red Raiders’ quarterback is expected to be under center. Use this as an opportunity to nab him while other casual observers look past him. Morton is destined for a slate-leading performance.

CFB DFS Running Back Picks

Yasin Willis (Syracuse Orange) $6,300 DraftKings

The Syracuse Orange lost several of their top offensive contributors this offseason. While they were forced to throw the ball more frequently to try and keep pace with Tennessee in Week 1, Yasin Willis low-key stole the show. Expect more meaningful contributions from Syracuse’s running back in Week 2.

A premier SEC school couldn’t contain Yasin Willis, and there’s little chance that the UConn Huskies can slow him down. The sophomore running back carried the ball 23 times for 93 yards last week while accounting for three of Syracuse’s four touchdowns. A between-the-tackles runner, Willis also has breakaway speed that he uses to his advantage. He broke off a 14-yard jaunt against the Vols, coming up short of his previous career best of 26 yards as a freshman.

UConn’s defense is leaky, at best. They gave up 128 yards to Central Connecticut State last week, with two players eclipsing 5.4 yards per carry. That’s the low mark for what to expect from Willis in Week 2, as the underclassman figures to be the bell cow on offense.

Syracuse enters Saturday’s non-conference clash as -6.5 chalk. If the game script plays out as anticipated, we should see Willis heavily involved in the attack to keep UConn’s offense off the field. He may fly under the radar again this week, but it won’t be long before everyone is paying attention to Yasin Willis. Use it to your advantage on the main slate.

Quintrevion Wisner (Texas Longhorns) $8,300 DraftKings

The Arch Manning era got off to an unspectacular start for the Texas Longhorns. The former top-ranked team was bested by the defending champs, with Manning struggling to move the ball consistently. Heading into their first home game of the season, we expect Quintrevion Wisner to play a more fruitful role against the San Jose State Spartans.

Wisner was one of the few bright spots for the Longhorns in Week 1. The junior running back burned the Buckeyes’ defense for 80 rushing yards on just 16 carries, for 5.0 yards per rushing attempt. While he wasn’t able to find the endzone, Wisner was also featured in the passing game, hauling in one of two targets.

We’ve seen Wisner excel in both the passing attack and ground game. Last season, he finished with 1,064 rushing yards on 226 carries, adding 311 receiving yards on 44 catches. He wasn’t able to match that energy against the defending champs, but the Spartans offer little resistance on Saturday.

San Jose State struggled to contain Central Michigan and was gouged for 236 rushing yards at home in Week 1. Assuredly, Wisner will be a driving factor in Texas’ game-planning and should accumulate more fantasy points than just about any other running back on the main slate. Include him in your fantasy plans.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Picks

Reggie Virgil (Texas Tech Red Raiders) $6,400

As we saw in Week 1, Texas Tech has several reliable pass-catchers that they can turn to at any moment. Terrance Carter led the way versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Caleb Douglas is out in front in our projections. Still, we like Reggie Virgil’s ceiling the most on Saturday’s main slate.

Arguably, Virgil was the most reliable wide receiver in the season opener. The Florida native pulled down four of his six targets for a team-best 56 yards and a touchdown. He was tied for the second-most yards per reception in Week 1 and was able to break away for a 21-yard catch.

Like most of the other starters, Virgil was held on the bench for most of the second half last week. Presumably with a longer leash in Week 2, we are anticipating a more robust fantasy showing from the senior at home.

Kent State’s secondary will be left in shambles, and Virgil’s contributions won’t go unnoticed. We’re stacking the Red Raiders’ wideout with Morton for maximum fantasy value.

Johntay Cook (Syracuse Orange) $6,100

Another underappreciated pass-catcher, Johntay Cook flexed his fantasy muscles in a Week 1 loss to a top-ranked opponent. Now settling in at the JMA Wireless Dome for his first home contest of the season, Cook will again be the focal point of Syracuse’s passing attack versus UConn.

Cook led the Orange in every passing category. His 11 targets, six receptions, and 58 yards were all team bests, and he was the lone touchdown scorer via the passing game. While he was challenged against an SEC defense, Cook should post a much better catch rate in Week 2’s tilt at home.

The defining characteristic of Cook’s college career has been his breakneck speed. The junior posted catch-and-runs of 51 and 40 yards in each of his first two seasons, also mustering 29 yards in the season opener. Heading into a non-conference tilt versus a lackluster opponent, we should see him rekindle his reputation as a legitimate deep threat.

We’re forecasting a sharp increase in Cook’s salary over the coming weeks. As he asserts himself as a premier wide receiver, his salary will undoubtedly increase. For now, DFS players can get him at a discounted rate, and Cook is worth the investment in Week 2.

Kyron Hudson (Penn State Nittany Lions) $4,200

Finally, what would a DFS main slate roster look like without some Penn State Nittany Lions love? James Franklin’s crew proved they are still championship contenders, with a convincing Week 1 victory over Nevada. A similar result is expected in Week 2’s showdown versus the FIU Panthers, and Kyron Hudson will once again feature as one of the main players.

Despite a litany of top offensive playmakers, Hudson was the focus in the season opener. The Nittany Lions’ wide receiver led the team with eight targets, grabbing six receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. He should have no problem sustaining that production into another winnable game versus FIU.

The Panthers took an easy path to victory in Week 1, besting Bethune-Cookman 42-9. However, the Wildcats had no problem moving the ball against FIU. The FCS squad threw for 241 yards, despite playing on the road against a superior opponent.

Penn State’s real tests won’t start until the conference schedule hits. For now, we can count on Kyron Hudson to solidify his position as an elite offensive asset, as he continues to build chemistry with Drew Allar. This is another buy-low candidate on the rise. Hudson will be a driving fantasy factor on the main slate.
