Fantasy Flex Podcast: Top Fantasy Football Running Backs – Part 2

Chris Raybon and Sean Koerner break down Yahoo’s RB13–RB24 range — a tier they dub the “Frozen Pond” because these backs often have visible cracks: questionable workloads, injury history, or shaky offensive situations. They stress that in this range, they usually prefer drafting wide receivers and targeting safer, high-floor RBs or rookies with untapped upside later.

They go player-by-player, starting with James Cook (RB13), noting likely touchdown regression but strong team context in Buffalo. Kenneth Walker (RB14) raises red flags due to injuries, new scheme uncertainty, and competition from Zach Charbonnet. Chuba Hubbard (RB15) has security from a new contract and strong O-line, but added depth could chip at volume.

Breece Hall (RB16) still has talent, but QB Justin Fields and a possible committee lower receiving upside. Rookie Amarian Hampton’s (RB17) value hinges on Najee Harris’s injury status, while Alvin Kamara (RB18) is praised as a safer veteran due to elite receiving skills and minimal backfield competition.

To hear the rest of their takes, watch the video below!

James Conner (RB19) is another “high-floor” vet, still efficient at age 30. David Montgomery (RB20) is a valuable injury contingency play but more of an RB25 type if Gibbs stays healthy. RJ Harvey (RB21) has burst and landing spot upside but a capped floor amid Sean Payton’s committee tendencies — prompting them to view J.K. Dobbins as the better value in Denver.

They also discuss Tony Pollard (RB22) likely ceding more work to Tyjae Spears, rookie Kaleb Johnson (RB23) as a likely early-down starter but one-dimensional, and Isiah Pacheco (RB24) as an overvalued, capped-ceiling back in a crowded Kansas City rotation.

In the value picks outside the top 24 section, Sean touts Dobbins, Jordan Mason, Jaydon Blue, and Blake Corum, while Chris highlights D’Andre Swift, Charbonnet, Rhamondre Stevenson, and more.
