What Is theScore Bet?

theScore Bet is the new name for what was previously ESPN BET in the U.S., following a branding shift under PENN Entertainment. The same underlying platform now runs under theScore Bet instead of ESPN BET, backed by theScore’s media footprint and PENN’s licenses.

Quick timeline of how we got here:

  • PENN Entertainment agreed to pay ESPN $1.5 billion over a 10-year partnership.
  • The ESPN/PENN deal was first announced in August 2023.
  • PENN launched ESPN BET in November 2023 and expanded it to 19 U.S. jurisdictions.
  • In November 2025, PENN and ESPN mutually agreed to end the partnership.
  • PENN announced that theScore Bet would replace ESPN BET in the U.S. market.
  • On December 1, 2025, ESPN BET rebranded to theScore Bet in former ESPN BET states, with user accounts migrating over.

So if you had an ESPN BET account, you’re now effectively using theScore Bet under the same PENN umbrella.

Latest theScore Bet News and Context

PENN’s move to theScore Bet is essentially a jersey swap for the same core sportsbook, now aligned with theScore’s media ecosystem instead of ESPN’s.

Key recent milestones:

  • December 1, 2025: theScore Bet launches in ESPN BET’s former U.S. markets. Existing ESPN BET accounts, balances, and open bets move to theScore Bet.
  • November 2025: PENN and ESPN announce the early end of their sportsbook partnership. In the same window, PENN confirms it will lean on theScore media and brand for its U.S. sportsbook going forward.

From here, the story becomes less about rebrand logistics and more about how quickly theScore Bet can build recognition in states where ESPN BET used to be the front door.

NFL Betting at theScore Bet

As a well-established sports media brand, theScore has built a strong presence among fans through real-time scores, news, and personalized sports content. With that foundation, theScore Bet is positioned to continue evolving into a major sports betting platform backed by a loyal user base and deep media integration.

A major part of its appeal will likely come from its NFL experience. With the NFL being the most popular sport in the US, theScore Bet has become a go-to destination for fans looking to place wagers during the season.

On top of a competitive welcome bonus that can be used on NFL markets, bettors can expect strong NFL odds, in-app insights from theScore’s media platform, and live betting features that allow you to track wagers in real time.

If you want to bet on the NFL outside of theScore Bet, check out the Prime Sportsbook promo code!

Daily Fantasy Sports on theScore Bet

Unfortunately, theScore Bet does not have a DFS platform for their users to enjoy.

Despite theScore Media being a popular resource NFL news that can help with fantasy NFL teams, fantasy baseball, and fantasy basketball, fans have never really considered theScore Bet as one to compete with DFS operators.

Fans of daily fantasy sports contests or DFS events may eventually see a proper upgrade of these features. And with ESPN BET previously having the FanCenter that allowed users to see what betting opportunities were related to their fantasy leagues, we hope theScore Bet will have something similar.

If you want to get in on the DFS action, check out these fantasy offers:

Where Will theScore Bet Launch Next?

theScore Bet will likely continue to expand after its initial December 1 rollout. Find details on potential launches below:

theScore Bet Vermont

Vermont legalized online sports betting in January 2024 and may welcome theScore Bet into its fold soon. Stay tuned for updates.

If you want another sportsbook bonus to claim alongside theScore Bet’s, check out the bet365 bonus code.

Bet Types at theScore Bet

Having multiple bet types is important to the quality of any sports betting institution, especially for keeping new and existing customers of all kinds for as long as possible.

Like its competition, theScore Bet sportsbook offers all the biggest bet types, including spread bets, futures, prop bets, teasers, moneylines, parlays and custom parlays. Many of these bet types are considered the bread and butter of any reputable sportsbook. They are just as important for keeping long-term customers and users as bonus bets, bonus codes, and bet promo code offers are for attracting new customers to the user base.

Alternate Player Props

theScore Bet is one of the only sportsbooks to allow users to bet alternate player prop unders in same game parlays. Most sportsbooks only allow you to bet the upside – a player for 50+ yards, at increased prices. However, in those books, you can’t capture a player’s downside because you’re forced to bet only the under on their standard prop line.

However, you won’t have an unlimited number of options. You can’t bet Patrick Mahomes under 25.5 passing yards at 100-1, and hope he gets injured. After the situation with Draymond Green starting a game to honor teammate Klay Thompson, then immediately subbing out, which cost DraftKings millions, sportsbooks have tried to avoid this.

But it’s definitely a step in the right direction that you can take some alternate unders.

Boosts

Every sportsbook offers some kind of boosted odds on pre-determined markets. Some are bad, some are horrible, and only a few are worth betting blindly.

After the first weekend, it was definitely a blend. Twitter accounts that calculate the value of every NFL boost found that two of the nine NFL boosts on Sunday were +EV and worth betting.

That’s better than most sportsbooks!

Teasers

Teaser pricing has been getting worse at most sportsbooks, to the point where what was once a mathematical advantage has practically vanished because the prices have increased substantially.

To make a six-point, two-team teaser work, the price has to be -115 or better. You can find -120 at DraftKings still.

At theScore Bet, you’ll most likely want to avoid betting NFL teasers altogether. They use dynamic teaser pricing, meaning depending on the types of lines you include in your teaser, the pricing will change.

  • Tease an under from 40.5 to 46.5 and the Jets from +7.5 to +13.5, which is not an optimal teaser? +101
  • Tease the Commanders from -8.5 to -2.5 and the Lions from -7.5 to -1.5? -171

At DraftKings, which doesn’t use dynamic pricing on teasers, you can bet that exact same teaser at -120 instead of -171.

Signing up with the Fanatics Sportsbook promo will also let you build teasers.

Live Streaming Sports on theScore Bet

Some sportsbooks that theScore Bet competes with allows live streaming for certain sporting events. We’ll keep an eye out in the future if theScore Bet expands into the app live streaming avenue in the future.

Depositing and Withdrawing Funds on theScore Bet

One of the most important factors of convenience for any bet sportsbook platform is allowing users to withdraw and deposit funds through as many options as possible. theScore Bet offers a diverse list of options for users to move their cash around.

These options include wire transfers, credit cards, debit cards, ACH/e-check, Skrill, Venmo, Online banking, and PayPal. Of course, some of these payment options are limited by region or state, so make sure to double-check your own state’s rules and regulations on the payment or transfer methods you prefer to use.

Payment & Processing

Many users also experienced delayed payouts on theScore Bet’s opening weekend. One withdraw took more than two days to process, which is within the stock timeline most sportsbooks give you but is well outside what’s become normal in U.S. sports betting.

Users on Twitter complained about the inconsistency of payouts, receiving certain payouts instantly and others still pending after two days.

Other users complained about account verification time, as they needed to wait 4-5 days to join the platform while customer support reviewed their supporting documents and verified their account.

These things are expected to improve as signups and registrations slow following theScore Bet’s opening weekend, but it doesn’t encourage a ton of confidence for users who expect near-instant verification and payouts.

The deposit/withdrawal options at theScore Bet’s are similar to those at betPARX—see our betPARX promo code review for more details!

theScore Bet’s User Features

Every sportsbook has unique features that either increase or hinder the usability of their app. In most cases, your average sportsbook will have the standard features that are essential for every sports bettor. However, theScore Bet does provide some unique elements that are worth highlighting.

Betting Limits

Some theScore Bet users were disappointed to find out that if they were “limited” – meaning they could only bet minimal amounts because they were deemed an experienced bettor. If previously with PENN, those limitations carried over to theScore Bet.

This is especially true for playing boosts, which can lead to a player being limited relatively quickly if you consistently bet on boosts. Notably, with previous PENN products, only betting the +EV boosts can get you limited pretty quickly as well.

Organization

In terms of organization, theScore Bet is moderate for American sportsbooks. At times, it can be difficult to find specific markets, because they’re located on top of each other as you navigate.

For example, if you want to bet player blocked shots in the NHL, you need to scroll to the very bottom through every single prop. On DraftKings, they have a second-tier menu where you can easily navigate to each prop category without a long, extended scroll.

The user experience of the app is very engaging. It moves fast, it’s easy to find your existing bets, and the search function is highly accessible.
