NFL DFS Picks: Top OwnersBox Plays in Week 16

OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.

In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.

Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.

Another reason to sign up with OwnersBox is their current Big Game Giveaway promotion. When you enter a lineup, you’ll earn “giveaway entries” for their Big Game drawing. What can you win? Two FRONT ROW tickets to Super Bowl LVIII + a VIP Fan Experience + Meet & Greets + Flights & Accommodations — over $40K in value!

Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.

Anyway, this article will focus on the more traditional salary cap DFS lineups that we’re all accustomed to. The best part about OwnersBox is their DFS product is a Superflex format with no defense.

I’ll be highlighting my favorite play at each position using our NFL projections inside our NFL Player Models.

NFL DFS Quarterback Pick

Kyler Murray ($6,200) at Chicago Bears

With nine games on Sunday’s main slate, there are 18 starting quarterbacks to consider in Week 16. The second-highest projected Pts/Sal of the group belongs to Kyler Murray, who also has the second-highest projected Pts/Sal on the entire slate, which is especially important with the OwnersBox Superflex format.

Kyler and the Cardinals fly to the Windy City to take on the Bears. This will be his sixth game of the season after getting a late start following last year’s knee injury. Murray has averaged 215 passing yards and 31 rushing yards per contest in his five games, with four passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and four interceptions. Kyler completed 26-of-39 passes last week against the tough 49ers defense and threw a touchdown to go with two interceptions. He added 49 rushing yards, falling just two yards short of his season-high.

His rushing potential gives him an extremely high ceiling for a quarterback this cheap. He has the third-highest medians projection at the position on this slate but only the seventh-highest salary. Murray seems to be adjusting well to the offensive system of Drew Petzing and remains the centerpiece of Arizona’s offense.

The Bears have not allowed a rushing touchdown to a quarterback this season, but opposing quarterbacks have averaged 251.1 passing yards per game and thrown 25 touchdowns in 14 games. After dealing with the ferocious 49ers and Steelers the last two weeks, this should be a much better matchup for Murray, who could have a monster game as one of the top playmakers at the position.

NFL DFS Running Back Pick

Rachaad White ($6,600) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

All season, Rachaad White has been the clear lead back for the Bucs, and he has turned that role into a very solid fantasy season. He has the highest Pts/Sal at running back in our projections this week and the highest median and ceiling projections by significant margins.

White hasn’t normally had huge yardage totals, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry on the season, but he makes up for it with the size of his workload and his ability to find the end zone. In his 14 games, White has scored eight touchdowns, seven of those scores coming in the last seven weeks. He also adds production as a pass-catcher with multiple receptions in every game this season and an average of 3.6 catches for 33.5 yards per game. He has had over 100 yards of scrimmage yards in four straight weeks and at least 20 carries each of the last three weeks.

He should again be very busy as the Bucs host Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon. Opposing running backs have scored four touchdowns against the Jags in the last three weeks and have averaged 6.6 receptions for 44.6 yards per game against Jacksonville on the season.

Since he carries so much of the workload, White has both a high floor and a high ceiling. He’s a very solid play on Sunday’s running back slate, which lacks a little star power since so many big names are in other time slots.

NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick

Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($4,500) at Tennessee Titans

Even though the Seahawks have DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, they used their first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft on wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba was able to ease his way into action due to the experience in place at the position, but the former Buckeye now plays a significant role in the offense.

This week, JSN has the third-highest Pts/Sal of all receivers and is a great value at just $4,500. The two receivers ranked above him both have salaries over $7,000.

Smith-Njigba has hauled in at least four catches in each of the last three weeks. He caught the game-winning touchdown on Monday night football against the Eagles and also had a season-high seven catches against the Cowboys in Week 13.

The Seahawks need to keep winning to stay in the playoff hunt, so they will have to be aggressive this week in Tennessee. Since the Titans are so good against the ground game, the Seahawks will likely have to throw the ball quite a bit, especially with their running backs banged up. The Titans rank in the top ten in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers and have given up 13 wide receiver touchdowns in 14 games while giving up an average of 175 receiving yards per week.

JSN should continue to establish himself as a big part of the future of the team over the last few weeks of the season, and even more targets could start going his way.

As a nice cheap option, Smith-Njigba leaves salary available for other strong options and also delivers in his growing role for Seattle’s passing attack.

NFL DFS Tight End Pick

Jake Ferguson ($4,400) at Miami Dolphins

While Trey McBrideDavid Njoku, T.J. Hockenson, and Sam LaPorta all project to be good value plays from the tight end position this week, the highest Pts/Sal at the position comes from Jake Ferguson of the Cowboys.

Dallas visits Miami in the marquee late game this week, and it’s also the matchup with the highest over/under on the slate. There should be points available in this potentially high-scoring contest, and Ferguson has worked his way into a productive role in the Cowboys’ passing attack.

In each of the last three weeks, Ferguson has exactly eight targets. In those contests, he has averaged 5.7 catches for 64.3 yards and scored his fifth touchdown of the season. He hasn’t visited the end zone in the last two weeks, so he could be overdue for a score. Opposing tight ends have three touchdowns against the Dolphins this season and are averaging over five receptions per game.

Ferguson leads all tight ends in red zone targets this season and is 11th in deep targets. As such a key part of the Cowboys’ passing game, getting him as the seventh-most expensive tight end on Sunday’s slate seems like a steal.
