NFL DFS Picks: Top OwnersBox Plays in Week 12

OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.

In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.

Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.

Another reason to sign up with OwnersBox is their current Big Game Giveaway promotion. When you enter a lineup, you’ll earn “giveaway entries” for their Big Game drawing. What can you win? Two FRONT ROW tickets to Super Bowl LVIII + a VIP Fan Experience + Meet & Greets + Flights & Accommodations — over $40K in value!

Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.

Anyway, this article will focus on the more traditional salary cap DFS lineups that we’re all accustomed to. The best part about OwnersBox is their DFS product is a Superflex format with no defense.

I’ll be highlighting my favorite play at each position using our NFL projections inside our NFL Player Models.

Don’t forget to check out our Lineup Builder if you like to hand build your lineups or our Lineup Optimizer for those of you who like to enter multiple lineups into tournaments.

NFL DFS Quarterback Pick

Jalen Hurts ($7,500) vs. Buffalo Bills

The Eagles got a big win in Kansas City on Monday night football, and now they will turn around after a short week for another big game on Sunday against the Bills. Our projections think Jalen Hurts will be up to the task and give him the highest median, ceiling, and floor projection of the 20 starting quarterbacks this week. He is also tied for the highest Pts/Sal of all quarterbacks in action on Sunday and for the highest Pts/Sal of all players at all positions, which is especially important with the Superflex format.

Hurts only managed to throw for 150 yards on Monday night in sub-optimal weather conditions, but he saved his fantasy day with a pair of rushing touchdowns and 29 rushing yards. On the season, he now has an impressive total of nine rushing touchdowns in 10 games while adding 15 passing scores and an average of 250 passing yards per game.

So far this season, Hurts has been especially effective at home, where he led the Eagles to wins over the Dolphins, Cowboys, Commanders, and Vikings. His yardage and touchdown totals have been strong in those contests, and he will need another big game to stay undefeated at Lincoln Financial Field this season.

The Bills took care of the Jets last week but had dropped four of their previous six games before that win. They had allowed multiple passing touchdowns in four straight before grounding the Jets struggling offense. The Bills defense has been depleted by injury, and their style can be boom-or-bust.

Hurts and the Eagles are tied for the highest implied team total on the slate, and the matchup has the highest over/under on the board. A side note for the matchup: the Eagles are bringing back their outstanding kelly green throwbacks, so this could be a “look good, play good” spot.

Hurts has shown he is virtually matchup-proof and has the ability to step up on the big stage. He’ll be in the spotlight again this week, and he’s projected to be the key to success for your OwnersBox squad this week.

NFL DFS Running Back Pick

Jonathan Taylor ($6,600) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With several key stars at the position playing on Thanksgiving, running back is a little thin on elite options this week. As a result, Jonathan Taylor takes the top spot in our median, ceiling, and floor projections at the position, even though he’s in a tough matchup against the Buccaneers. Taylor’s salary is the fourth-highest at the position but he projects to outperform the options priced above him.

Taylor and the Colts are returning to action after their bye week. They last played in Germany, where they beat New England 10-6. Taylor had the only touchdown in the game, which came on the Colts’ first possession. He didn’t have great numbers the rest of the way, but he did get a season-high 24 touches compared to just one for Zack Moss, and he played 88% of snaps compared to just 16% for Moss. With a week off to continue to get back in game shape, Taylor should be ready to carry the load as the feature back for the rest of the season.

Although he only had one catch against the Patriots, he has been very involved as a receiver this season, with 14 catches in his previous four games. Those catches and receiving yards have helped him turn in solid fantasy production every week, and he has found the end zone three times in his last four games.

The Bucs are usually tough against the run, but they did give up over 100 yards rushing and a receiving touchdown to the 49ers’ running backs last week. It was just the second running back touchdown they have allowed this season. Normally, the matchup might be enough to slot Taylor down a few spots, but there just aren’t other options that project as well on this slate.

After his late start to the season, Taylor seems to be getting back to full speed at just the right time to carry the Colts’ offense down the stretch as they try to make a push for the playoffs. They are 5-5 coming into the week, so this is a pivotal matchup with the Bucs.

NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick

Calvin Ridley ($5,600) at Houston Texans

While it’s hard to pass up A.J. Brown in his kelly greens looking for a bounce-back performance, let’s take a look at an underpriced play at wide receiver instead. Calvin Ridley has the highest Pts/Sal of any wide receiver on this week’s slate, and he comes at a huge discount in the spirit of Black Friday. He ranks in the top 10 of both ceiling and median projections, but his salary is the 19th highest of the receivers expected to play this week.

Ridley and the Jaguars are taking on the surging Texans in Houston in a huge game for the AFC South race. The matchup has the second-highest over/under on the slate and could definitely turn into a high-scoring, back-and-forth contest. Opposing wide receivers have scored three touchdowns in the last two weeks against the Texans and have averaged 12.2 catches for 160 yards per game this season. While Ridley generally splits the workload evenly with Christian Kirk, he showed last week that he still brings a very high ceiling.

Since announcing his return with over 100 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, Ridley had been a little quiet until last week’s game against the Titans. He exploded for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns to be one of the top receivers of Week 10. In his 10 games, he has averaged 4.2 catches on 7.0 targets for 57.4 yards per game and has scored a total of four touchdowns. He had a couple of nice long catches and remains a big-play threat, and one of his touchdowns was a three-yard strike, showing he’s a strong option in the red zone as well.

Ridley brings a very high ceiling compared to his salary, and he is a great way to get some exposure to the Jags side of what should be a fascinating and fun matchup. Some other bargains that show well in the projections are Diontae JohnsonRashid Shaeed, and Demario Douglas.

NFL DFS Tight End Pick

Trey McBride ($4,200) at Houston Texans

For the second week in a row, Trey McBride brings the highest Pts/Sal of all tight ends. He has the second-highest median, ceiling, and floor projections at the position, behind only Travis Kelce, who has a salary over $2,500 higher. McBride is only the fourth-most expensive play at the position but is projected to bring the best returns.

Since the injury to Zach Ertz (quad), McBride has become the go-to option in Cardinals’ offensive coordinator Drew Petzing’s attack. In the last two weeks, Kyler Murray has sent 16 passes his way and McBride converted 13 catches for 174 total yards.

McBride has at least five targets in six straight games and has shown a very high ceiling during that span with a 10-catch performance that included his first touchdown of the year against the Ravens and a 100-yard game against the Falcons. He has at least five receptions in three of his past four games, with his only down game coming with Clayton Tune filling in at QB.

This week, the Cardinals take on the Rams in a divisional matchup. The Rams have been one of the best matchups for tight ends this season. Opposing tight ends have averaged 56.8 yards per contest against them and have found the end zone five times in their last seven games. In such a good matchup with so much work coming his way, McBride should be a strong play as he continues his breakout season for the Cardinals.
