How NFL DFS Ownership Affects the Week 4 Slate

Adam Levitan projects ownership for every NFL DFS player each week in the FantasyLabs Player Models. Gauging ownership is important when it comes to tournaments so you can try and gain leverage on the field. You don’t need a team of 1%-owned plays to win a tournament, but it’s also unlikely you’ll win a tournament with an abundance of highly-owned plays.

The goal of this article is to give a brief rundown of some of the highest-owned players heading into the week, along with how they can affect roster construction.

Be sure to check the ownership projections throughout the week as breaking news can cause these to fluctuate.

Note: Ownership percentages as of Friday morning.

Quarterbacks

At the time of writing, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson and Daniel Jones all project to be the highest-owned quarterbacks in tournaments on the slate.

On DraftKings, I’d expect Jones to soak up most ownership in cash games with his slate-high +5.01 Projected Plus/Minus in our Player Models. It’s difficult to pass up a cheap value quarterback with rushing upside when it comes to cash games.

After that, Mahomes and Wilson should garner most of the ownership. Wilson is a solid value and costs just $800 more than Jones. The matchup for Wilson is excellent since Arizona is lacking in the secondary, ranking 22nd in PFF’s coverage grades and sporting a deserved catch rate of 97.2%, the seventh-worst mark in the league, per Sports Info Solutions. Wilson’s efficiency should cause them plenty of problems.

With the flat ownership in tournaments, the quarterback position won’t dictate roster construction too much in Week 4.

Running Backs

The running back position, once again, will factor into where most DFS players go with the rest of their roster.
