Bargain Rating Picks

You might be asking: what is Bargain Rating, and why should I care?

Bargain Rating shows how much of a bargain a player is on one DFS site versus others. If a player is significantly cheaper on one site than the other, they will have a favorable Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more affordable and a poor Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more expensive. It’s a straightforward metric, but targeting players at reduced price tags is almost always a strong strategy in DFS.

Bargain Rating strongly correlates with player value, which you can quickly see with our predictive projected Plus/Minus metric.

Seeing how Plus/Minus helps you project how many points a player is expected to score compared to what their salary implies them to score, this is a good company for Bargain Rating.

MLB DFS DraftKings Bargain

Leody Taveras ($2,300): Outfielder, Texas Rangers

In his third partial season in the big leagues, Taveras is playing well enough to ensure he’ll stick around a while this time. He is batting .329 with a .365 wOBA in 26 games this season.

Taveras’ salary has not yet risen to match his recent production, making him a great bargain option. He has averaged 15.2 DraftKings points in his last five games.

Take a flyer on him tonight as a cheap lineup filler against Robbie Ray and the Mariners.

MLB DFS FanDuel Bargain

Amed Rosario ($2,900): Shortstop/Outfielder, Cleveland Guardians

The versatile Rosario has three straight multi-hit games for the Guardians. He is batting .290 on the year with four home runs.

Despite a lack of home run power, Rosario has produced seven different 20+ FanDuel point games since the start of June.

Rosario faces the Tigers’ Drew Hutchison, who is 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA in 14 appearances this season. He is worth the price tag as a bargain lineup play.

MLB DFS Ceiling Projection Picks

Pitcher

Robbie Ray ($9,800 DraftKings, $10,700 FanDuel) at Texas Rangers

In his ninth big league season, Ray has pitched better than his 7-6 record shows. He has a 3.51 ERA on the year and has posted a positive Plus/Minus in 14 of 18 outings.

The defending Cy Young award winner had a 2.19 ERA in June and a 1.42 ERA so far in July. He has three different 30+ DraftKings point games this season, showing his high ceiling potential.

Ray faces a Rangers team in the bottom third of the league in offense. He is a solid high-upside play in lineups tonight.

Hitter

Juan Soto ($6,500 DraftKings, $4,300 FanDuel) vs. Atlanta Braves

Recently named to his second All-Star team, Soto is among the top 4% of the league with a .430 xwOBA, according to Baseball Savant. He may be a top ceiling play but also provides some floor potential with his 20.2 BB% on the year.

Over the last 10 games, Soto has a +3.64 Plus/Minus rating and four 20+ DraftKings point games in his last six outings, including four home runs.

Soto destroys right-handed pitching with a .491 wOBA and .345 ISO. He faces right-hander Ian Anderson of the Braves tonight, who is 7-5 with a 4.98 ERA.

The Braves’ potent lineup starts the weekend in Washington tonight against the Nationals’ Patrick Corbin. Corbin has struggled mightily this season to a 4-11 record and 5.70 ERA.

Superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. headlines the stack. Despite a slowdown in home run production this season, he earned his third All-Star game appearance with a strong .402 xwOBA and 49.1 hard hit %.

Dansby Swanson will join Acuna Jr. as an All-Star on the back of his .294 batting average and 14 home runs at shortstop. He has the highest projection at the position and the third highest salary.

Despite not being named an All-Star, Austin Riley leads the majors with 196 total bases. He has showcased some serious power with 25 home runs and 58 RBI in 2022.

The stack finishes with first baseman Matt Olson and outfielder Marcell Ozuna. Olson has a +2.31 Plus/Minus over the last 10 games, and Ozuna has blasted three home runs already in July.

All systems are a go for an Atlanta stack tonight with a plus matchup against Corbin and the Nationals.
