Pitchers

The four pitchers projected to score the most fantasy points today are:

  1. Lucas Giolito (R)
  2. Sean Manaea (L)
  3. Aaron Nola (R)
  4. Eduardo Rodriguez (L)

The highest priced pitcher today on both DraftKings and FanDuel is Lucas Giolito from the Chicago White Sox. Giolito is coming off a very impressive performance, throwing eight innings and only allowing two hits in an 11-1 win. Today, he will be on the mound against the New York Yankees who are coming off a 7-5 victory yesterday. Giolito is the highest rated pitcher on Bales Model for DraftKings today.

Sean Manaea from the Oakland Athletics is a top-four rated pitcher on Bales Model for both DraftKings and FanDuel. Manaea has struggled mightily in his last two outings. In a combined six innings pitched, he allowed 13 hits, eight earned runs, and three walks. Due for a bounce back game, Manaea will be on the hill against the Texas Rangers this afternoon who have lost eight of their last 10 games.

A player projected for a high fantasy output and low ownership is Aaron Nola from the Philadelphia Phillies. After a start in which Nola allowed five earned runs in five innings, he rebounded nicely allowing only one hit across four innings last outing. For not being the biggest name on the slate, Nola does have an impressive 10.879 K/9. Hoping to add to his strikeout numbers, Nola will be pitching against the Cincinnati Reds who are projected for an implied runs total of four.

The highest rated pitcher on Bales Model for FanDuel is Eduardo Rodriguez from the Boston Red Sox. Rodriguez has been less than stellar during his 2021 campaign. In 110 innings pitched, he has a 5.24 ERA, 8-6 record, 1.38 WHIP, and 139 strikeouts. On a positive note, Rodriguez’s strike out numbers have greatly increased in his last three outings (18). Looking to repeat with strong strikeout numbers, Rodriguez will be pitching against the Baltimore Orioles, who have the second worst record in MLB (38-77).

Value

One pitcher who stands out for being low priced yet projected for a high fantasy output today is Alec Mills from the Chicago Cubs after quality starts in two of his last three outings. My only concern with Mills is pitch count. I wouldn’t worry too much about the 40 pitches last start, that was hampered due to a rain delay. Looking further however, Mills has yet to reach the century mark this season. Although pitchers don’t receive points from how many pitches they throw, an increased pitch count leads to an increased opportunity to score fantasy points, of course.

Hitters

Notable Stack

Today’s top projected points stack comes to you from the -165 Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Randy Arozarena (R)
  • Nelson Cruz (R)
  • Yandy Diaz (R)
  • Austin Meadows (L)

The Rays are projected for the second highest implied runs total on the slate today (6 runs). Although the Rays lost last game, they still hold a four-game lead of the Boston Red Sox in the AL East and have won seven of their last 10. After being held scoreless yesterday, the Rays are due for a bounce back game, so I absolutely agree with the high projected runs total. On FanDuel, this stack will cost you $13.6k in salary and are projected for a combined 52 fantasy points.

Other Hitters

It is worth noting the team with the highest projected runs total today is the Boston Red Sox (6.8 runs). As previously mentioned, the Red Sox are playing the Orioles who have the second worst record in MLB. Many Red Sox batters are highly rated on Bales Model, so I recommend looking further at ownership numbers.

The highest-rated batter on Bales Model for FanDuel is Tommy Edman from the St Louis Cardinals. Edman is coming off a two-hit performance yesterday which increased his .252 batting average. A strong reason to consider Edman today is he ranks seventh in MLB with 19 steals.

The batter rated as the highest bargain on FanDuel today is Mike Moustakas (99% Bargain Rating) from the Cincinnati Reds. Although Moustakas is hitless in his last three games and is currently in a slump, he is a solid player who is more than capable of a turnaround.

Value

Finally, here is a handful of batters to consider while completing your lineups today that are projected for a high fantasy points/salary:

  • Luiz Arraez
  • Brett Gardner
  • Oscar Mercado
  • Nate Lowe
  • Amed Rosario
