Introducing FantasyLabs’ 2016-17 NBA Tools

NBA is back, and we’re thrilled to announce Version 2.0 of our NBA tools. We’ve made a number of additions and upgrades this season.

Here’s a general overview of the 2016-17 NBA product, including a brand new Matchups tool, a unique On/Off tool, an NBA Vegas dashboard, improved Player Models, and much more.

FantasyLabs 2016-17 NBA Product Overview

Watch Bryan Mears and Justin Phan discuss the new NBA tools in this special edition of the FantasyLabs Podcast.

Here’s a video introducing each new tool in version 2.0 of the FantasyLabs NBA product, followed by individual tutorial videos on how to use each one.

NBA On/Off Tool

The new NBA On/Off tool allows you to research a ton of premium and advanced data using on/off filters for any player or team. Want to see how the Kings have historically performed with DeMarcus Cousins either on the bench or out of the game completely? You can easily query this or any other on/off question you have.

Daily fantasy basketball is perhaps the most value-driven DFS sport. Our new NBA On/Off tool can help you identify valuable situations and become a more profitable player.

NBA Matchups Tool

Inspired by our NFL Matchups tool, our new NBA Matchups tool is built for you to see starting lineups and quickly identify which players have the most advantageous matchups for each slate. For example, you can quickly view how a player like DeMar DeRozan matches up against a projected defender like Nicolas Batum.

Sort by a variety of stats, including advanced data, FantasyLabs-specific metrics (like projected ownership), shooting stats, and specific play types. Using the example above, you can quickly determine how DeMar DeRozan — an isolation-heavy wing — fares against a defender like Batum, who limited players to 0.7 points per possession in isolation last season.

NBA Vegas Dashboard

We’ve added a new NBA Vegas dashboard. It is critical to have real-time Vegas data when setting your lineups, and this tool includes not only lines, but also betting percentages and movement over time.

Watch the video below in which I walk through how to use the new Vegas dashboard.

NBA Player Models

We’ve just released version 2.0 of our NBA Player Models, which includes a player pool feature, ownership projections, the ability to create groups of players and set exposure to them, and much more.

Quickly create a ‘core’ of players using the new player pool function, set exposure to players or groups, and build up to 500 lineups — all in a single place.

In the video below, I walk through how to use NBA Player Models 2.0.

NBA Ownership Projections

One of the most important additions we’ve made to the Pro version of our NFL product has been ownership projections. I’m excited to announce we now have the same for NBA.

Starting tonight, you’ll be able to find ownership projections for every player on FanDuel. As with NFL, these projections will be for the major mid-stakes tournament on each site (typically the Crossover and Slam). The ownership projections update in real-time with new information – changes in a player’s role, a shift in the Vegas lines, and so on.

We will add DraftKings ownership projections a few weeks into the season as we collect more data. Their rule change to allow for multi-position eligibility will surely affect tournament ownership, so we’ll be analyzing that for a bit before adding ownership projections for DraftKings.

NBA Player Pool Feature and Multi-Lineup Builder

Our player pool feature allows you to “Like” or “Unlike” players to include them in or exclude them from your selected ‘core’ of players for your lineups. This feature easily integrates with our Multi-Lineup Builder. You can build up to 500 lineups based around your model and liked players, then sort by things like projected points, projected ceiling, projected ownership, and more.

NBA Trends

We’ve made our NBA Trends tool free since the end of last NBA season. We’ve also added historical ownership data, which means you can quickly create a DFS trend and see how players under a given set of criteria have performed in terms of Plus/Minus, Consistency Rating, and historical ownership in large-field NBA tournaments. For example, want to see how starting DraftKings centers have performed on the road in low-total games?

You can quickly find the answer to this and many more questions. Watch the video below for a tutorial on how to use our free NBA Trends tool.

More to Come

We’ve always made a promise to you that FantasyLabs will never be satisfied – we guarantee we’ll always continue to push the envelope and do our best to offer innovative, cutting-edge solutions for DFS players – and that’s true now more than ever.

There’s a lot more really cool stuff in the pipeline – some of which will be announced in a matter of days.
