Staying active on the waiver wire is an important way for season-long fantasy owners to improve their teams and get an edge on the competition. Shifts in opportunities for players due to injuries or performance cause value spikes that owners can take advantage of to fill in roster holes to build a championship lineup.
Each week, we will discuss waiver wire targets at each position to consider for both the week ahead and the rest of the fantasy season.
Week 14 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds
* Current roster % in home leagues is noted in parentheses (from FantasyPros)
Tyrod Taylor, QB (New York Jets) (5%)
The Jets have been friskier in matchups this season than their record shows. Tyrod Taylor is coming off a big win over Atlanta and showcased his dual-threat ability that makes him viable in starting fantasy lineups.
Taylor threw for 172 yards and a score but also added 44 yards and another touchdown with his legs. Those results were good enough for a top-10 fantasy quarterback finish and may be a recipe for fantasy success again this week against a Dolphins defense that ranks 26th against opposing fantasy signal callers.
New York will likely be in negative game scripts a lot in the final weeks, especially with Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams departing for other teams. Taylor seems to have found a connection with Adonai Mitchell downfield and is worth a look for quarterback-needy teams.

Zonovan “Bam” Knight, RB (Arizona Cardinals) (31%)
The Cardinals’ season has been a massive disappointment, culminating in a permanent quarterback change to Jacoby Brissett. The running back room has also gone through changes, with injuries to James Conner and Trey Benson giving way to a slew of career backup options.
Bam Knight has arguably been the best of the replacement bunch and quietly has three straight double-digit fantasy games. He finished top-20 at the position each of the last three weeks with a steady volume of both carries and targets. He showed some burst against the Buccaneers last Sunday with 5.6 yards/carry for 61 total yards and three catches for 36 yards and a score through the air.
It’s possible Benson returns this week for the Cardinals, which would sink Knight’s fantasy value, but he would be a viable flex volume option against a difficult Rams defense this week if he starts again. Without any other obvious waiver wire running back pickups this week, he should remain on the radar until Benson re-enters the starting lineup.

Adonai Mitchell, WR (New York Jets) (4%)
It may be odd to see two New York Jets as recommended adds to a fantasy lineup this season, but Adonai Mitchell and Tyrod Taylor have shown an obvious connection over the last two weeks with Taylor leading the offense. Mitchell had his best game as a professional last week with eight catches for 102 yards and his first career touchdown.
In his season and a half with the Colts, Mitchell saw seven targets in a game just once. He’s reached that threshold in each of the last two games with a new career-high 12 targets against the Falcons. With Garrett Wilson out at least one more game, Mitchell is in line for another heavy workload this week against a porous Dolphins defense.
A second-round pick out of Texas, Mitchell certainly has talent to work with. If he gets anywhere near the 39% target share he saw last week, that talent will have plenty of opportunity to shine against Miami.
Darren Waller, TE (Miami Dolphins) (29%)
Outside of the elite options, fantasy success for tight ends normally comes when they find the end zone. Of the waiver wire options this week, Darren Waller may be the best bet to score six with his red zone usage.
Returning from injury in Week 12, Waller actually led the Dolphins in receiving yards with just two catches for 47 yards. He’s had a bye week to rest up for a matchup with the Jets this Sunday, who rank 19th against fantasy tight ends this season.
In five games Waller has played this season, he has five red zone targets. He’s hauled in four of those for scores. The Dolphins will likely have multiple red zone drives against a Jets defense missing key pieces. He is a decent touchdown-or-bust proposition for fantasy lineups this week.

Washington Commanders, D/ST (6%)
The Commanders have not played well on defense this season by any stretch of the imagination. The Vikings, however, have played historically bad on offense with both JJ McCarthy and Max Brosmer behind center over the last few weeks.
McCarthy may return this week from a concussion. If he happens to miss again and Brosmer is thrust into the lineup, the Commanders are an auto start. Brosmer threw four interceptions last Sunday as Minnesota posted their first shutout loss since 2007.
Even with McCarthy in the lineup, the Commanders are likely to stumble into some takeaways and sacks. McCarthy has 10 interceptions on the season compared to just six touchdown passes. He’s also been sacked 20 times in his six starts. This is a hold-your-nose defensive start for fantasy owners.
