Fantasy Football: Tools to Use to Crush Your Best Ball Drafts

Best Ball is the newest (and easiest) form of season-long fantasy football, and there are BIG prizes up for grabs heading into the 2022 NFL season.

It’s simple!

Draft your team of players, then sit back and relax. No in-season management. No waiver wire. No trades. And you don’t even have to set your starting lineup. The site automatically calculates your top scorers each week from the players you drafted.

Underdog Fantasy, Drafters Fantasy, and even DraftKings are offering NFL Best Ball tournaments with seven-figure prize pools. The sites have contests with entry fees starting as low as $2, and Best Ball Mania 3 on Underdog has a TEN MILLION DOLLAR prize pool and a TWO MILLION DOLLAR top prize.

That’s a LOT of cash up for grabs, so how do we gain an edge on the thousands of other drafters vying for millions of dollars?

If you’re new to Best Ball, make sure to check out this video that covers all the Best Ball Basics to get you ready for your drafts.

Player Exposure

At Spike Week, you can use the new DraftIQ tool to see everything about the teams and players you’ve drafted. If you’re extremely high on a player, like, say, Saquon Barkley, you can make sure you’re getting not just that amount of teams with Saquon them but also the draft strategies and ADP value on those teams.

Roster Construction & Playoff Strategy

In order to navigate our way through the entire season with just our initial drafted players, we need to structure our teams so that they benefit from a little bit of good luck. If we draft like we’re right, we can build teams that give us a leg up on our competition.

As simple as it sounds, if we invest heavily into a position with our early draft picks, we don’t want to invest too great a quantity of picks at that position. If you spend an early pick on Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, you can forego that third QB and bolster your other positions. If you draft multiple early running backs, invest your later-round picks at WR to make up for your lack of firepower there from early in the draft.

We also can give ourselves a better shot at the big bucks by honing in on the fantasy playoffs. On sites like Underdog and DraftKings, nearly all of the prizes are paid out in the final playoff round in Week 17, so if we build in some correlation for that week on our teams (just like we would in our NFL DFS lineups), we can get a little extra added upside for those most important weeks.

You can see all of the playoff exposure and stacks you have drafted on your teams in DraftIQ, too.

Become an Awesome Drafter

At the end of the day, no strategy or exposure can save you if you’re not able to draft good teams when you’re on the clock.

The Spike Week Draft Helper Overlay can help guide you through your drafts. Thanks to a premium browser extension, the Draft Helper displays the most important information about the teams you have drafted right onto your draft board and player queue while you’re in a draft.

Whether it’s highlighting stack and correlation options for that draft, exposure to combinations of players, or just the playoff matchups, you can see everything in real-time directly in your draft lobby.

You can customize exactly what you want to see, too.

Get access to these tools, as well as rankings for every Best Ball site, strategy playbooks, and more premium content for just $24.98 per month (or $200 per year).

We also have an exclusive offer for new players with our partner, Drafters Fantasy.

Drafters is a cumulative scoring format, meaning you don’t have to worry about those silly playoff weeks. Just draft your team and score the most points in the tournament from Week 1 to Week 17 and take home the $250k top prize.

New users can deposit just $10 and get a FREE $20 entry into the Drafters $1 Million Best Ball Championship.
