Somehow, the college football slate looks more tantalizing every week, and that’s particularly true as we head into Week 5. There are a few ranked matchups that will inevitably play a factor in the playoff seeding down the line, some live home underdogs that could upend a few National Championship contenders, and a few unsuspecting squads looking to crack the Top 25. Those yarns intertwine with the fantasy slate in what should be the most exciting weekend of the young football season.

We’ve got you covered for DFS purposes, highlighting our preferred players from Saturday’s main slate.

Let’s dive into this week’s slate!
CFB DFS Quarterback Picks
Keelon Russell (Alabama Crimson Tide): $8,800 DraftKings
Even before he took over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Kalen DeBoer had an excellent reputation as an offensive head coach. Every iteration of his team has enjoyed some level of success. Arguably, this Keelon Russell-fronted Bama side could be DeBoer’s most imposing squad to date.
Russell is taking the SEC by storm. The sophomore pivot has already surpassed 1,129 passing yards through four games, looking more effective with each successive outing. Most recently, Russell has thrown for a combined 685 yards over the past two outings, recording no fewer than 320 in either game. Moreover, he’s tossed seven touchdowns without an interception, maximizing his fantasy output with a sterling 77.2% completion percentage.
Of course, part of Russell’s appeal is his dual-threat ability. The Texas native has a knack for taking off in opportune conditions, churning out 168 yards on 32 carries. Like his passing game, Russell’s fantasy impact is strengthened by his scoring prowess, with the quarterback finding paydirt in all but one of his four starts.
Undoubtedly, Alabama versus Mississippi State will be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. Accordingly, DraftKings included it on the main slate, and every DFS punter should have Keelon Russell in their sights. Expect a monumental fantasy performance from Bama’s signal-caller.
Kamario Taylor (Mississippi State Bulldogs): $8,100 DraftKings
For all of Alabama’s offensive exploits under Kalen DeBoer, they haven’t looked like the same defensive squad from years past. With that, there’s no reason why Kamario Taylor should wander into the main slate with a salary this low. The Mississippi State Bulldogs field general has taken over, and another standout fantasy performance is nothing more than a formality.
Taylor has emerged as one of the premier quarterbacks in the country. Through Week 4, he’s thrown for 1,192 yards and 14 touchdowns, complemented by his 185 rushing yards on 37 attempts. Like his Week 5 counterpart, Taylor’s fantasy ceiling is raised by his touchdown-throwing ability. The sophomore is tied for the most tuddies this season, already sitting at 14.
We’ve lost faith in Alabama’s defensive abilities. Against mostly uninspired opponents, they’re giving up 206.2 passing yards and 20.3 points per game. While those may seem like respectable numbers, some of the shine wears off when you factor in that only one of their opponents has a winning record. As we saw against FSU in Week 4, when Ashton Daniels threw for 377 yards, there are holes in Alabama’s secondary.
Taylor’s fantasy salary has taken a hit on this week’s main slate, but his performance won’t. We’re counting on another slate-leading effort from the Bulldogs’ quarterback, with Taylor matching Keelon Russell step for step. Finding a way to roster both could be the deciding factor for winning lineups.

CFB DFS Running Back Picks
Jadan Baugh (Florida Gators) $9,800 DraftKings
One of these weeks, we’ll start fading Jadan Baugh, but it won’t be in this Week 5 showdown versus the Missouri Tigers. The Florida Gators’ running back has forced his way into the Heisman Trophy conversation, and his odds could shorten after another assertive effort at Faurot Field.
Simply, Baugh is unstoppable. The junior has rushed for no fewer than 136 yards in any contest this season, ranking second in the FBS with a cumulative 600 rushing yards. Notably, he’s had game-long jaunts of 61, 75, and 53 yards in three of his four outings. More impressively, he’s already crossed the plane 11 times, recording three scores in all but one of those contests.
Mizzou’s defensive credibility took a big hit in Week 4. The aforementioned Bulldogs hung 31 points on the Tigers, putting up nearly 500 yards of total offense. Still, we had some apprehensions about Missouri’s defensive fortitude leading up to that contest. Troy, Kansas, and even Arkansas-Pine Bluff all experienced varying degrees of success, and it was just a matter of time before the Tigers were exposed.
Baugh’s salary reflects his fantasy ceiling, but he’s still worth the investment. The Gators have delegated him as the bellcow on offense, toting the ball 55 times over the last two weeks. He’ll maintain that workload against Mizzou and is the fantasy cornerstone of every lineup.
Aiden Flora (Iowa State Cyclones) $6,300 DraftKings
We’ve got the ideal buy-low candidate to pair with Jadan Baugh. Aiden Flora has taken the reins of the Iowa State Cyclones’ backfield, serving as an every-down back with rushing and receiving potential. He should have no problem reaching his fantasy ceiling in this Week 5 clash versus the West Virginia Mountaineers.
After a relatively quiet start to the season, Flora has asserted himself as a quality fantasy player. He burned Bowling Green for 194 yards and two scores in Week 3, following that up with 107 total yards (54 rushing, 53 receiving) last time out against Big 12 power Utah.
Further, Iowa State remains one of the premier rushing programs in the country. Their 58.9% rushing play percentage is the 28th-highest in the FBS, meaning we should see increased usage and production from Flora now that he’s taken over the Cyclones’ backfield.
West Virginia has hemorrhaged rushing yards this season. Last week, Oklahoma State combined for 220 rushing yards, with Caleb Hawkins leading the way with 180. Truthfully, we wouldn’t be shocked to see Aiden Flora and Iowa State mimic that success at home.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Picks
Cayden Lee (Missouri Tigers) $6,300
We’ve seen the exact same Florida Gators’ game script week after week. Push the pace offensively and force opponents to keep up. Mizzou will have its hands full trying to keep pace, inevitably leading to more passing plays for yards in big chunks. Inevitably, that will include a heavy dose of Cayden Lee out wide.
Lee transferred to Missouri last offseason after he saw a diminished role with the Ole Miss Rebels. In 2024, the Georgia native went off for 874 yards on 57 receptions, decreasing to 635 and 44, respectively, last season. Already, Lee is well on his way to surpassing those previous career benchmarks.
Through four games, Lee has been the centerpiece of the Tigers’ passing attack. He’s hauled in 27 receptions for 412 yards, leading the team in both categories. Predictably, that correlates with a team-best 28.7% target share, validating his position as Austin Simmons‘ preferred target.
As good as they are offensively, the Gators have absolved themselves of any defensive responsibility. Missouri will take advantage at home, with Cayden Lee building off the 156 yards and two touchdowns he put up last week.
Anthony Evans (Mississippi State Bulldogs) $6,800
Kamario Taylor has stolen the show in Starkville, but he wouldn’t be in the same position without his star wideout, Anthony Evans. The Bulldogs’ senior receiver has been Taylor’s security blanket early in 2026, and the duo should thrive at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday.
Evans leads all of Mississippi State’s receiving categories by a wide margin. His 28 receptions are 15 more than the next-closest receiver, while his 408 yards are nearly double Sanfrisco Magee‘s 208. Naturally, Evans’ 29.7% target share is hands down the best mark on the team, and he’s posted a 73.7% catch rate, despite being the focus every time he’s on the field. With totals like that, it’s not surprising to see Evans with three 100+ receiving games while finding the end zone in all but one of those outings.
Stacking Taylor and Evans has been a winning strategy early in 2026. The Bulldogs’ duo forms one of the best one-two punches in the country, with their fantasy success dependent on each other. Considering the state of Alabama’s defense, we’re riding them to fantasy glory on the main slate.
JJ Buchanan (Michigan Wolverines) $5,800
As a whole, we don’t have a lot of trust in the Michigan Wolverines right now. The formerly ranked Big Ten squad narrowly survived Western Michigan in the season opener, following that up with another dismal performance against Iowa in Week 4. Still, we know this offense would be in much better shape if they turned to JJ Buchanan more frequently. That’s exactly what we’re expecting on Saturday versus the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Buchanan walked with Utah last season so he could run with Michigan in 2026. The sophomore has emerged as the premier deep threat in Ann Arbor, using his 20 catches for 396 yards. With that, we’ve seen Bryce Underwood turn to Buchanan when he needs him most. The Wolverines’ wideout went off for 126 yards on six receptions versus Western Michigan and 130 yards on five catches against Iowa.
Michigan needs more consistent production out of its offense, which should include more usage from Buchanan. He’s been an incredibly reliable presence when needed and has pulled down 12 of the last 16 passes thrown his way. We’ve seen Minnesota lose its footing against premier passers, and Underwood needs to keep his foot on the pedal to ensure a much-needed victory as -5.5 chalk.
This will be the last time we see Buchanan’s salary in the $5,000 range. Include him on your rosters in any format.
