Best NBA picks for Friday play-in tournament games

Though Thursday will feature no basketball games, there will be two win-or-go-home NBA games on Friday. The Bulls will face the Heat for a chance to make the playoffs in the East, and the Kings will do the same with the Pelicans in the West.

If you want to make an entry with PrizePicks featuring players from the NBA play-in tournament, you can absolutely do so. Here are three selections that I thought were intriguing.

  • Trey Murphy III to score more than 16.5 points
  • Domantas Sabonis to score more than 18.5 points
  • Jonas Valanciunas to get more than 9.5 rebounds

Trey Murphy III will have an increased role against the Kings due to Zion Williamson’s hamstring injury. The team will rely on him to be their tertiary scorer behind Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum. Murphy III finished the regular season with 14.8 points per game, and since the Kings’ wing defense is weaker, he should have a solid night.

Domantas Sabonis should thrive against the Pelicans as a scorer since they do not have any interior defense. Neither Jonas Valanciunas nor Larry Nance Jr. provide any resistance at the rim. Sabonis has put up 19.4 points per game this year. Without Williamson present, he will have the athleticism to dominate the Pelicans frontcourt.

Though the Pelicans tend to play small ball frequently, Jonas Valanciunas might get a few extra minutes here to keep with Sabonis’ rebounding. Valanciunas is averaging 8.8 rebounds in only 23.5 minutes per game. However, in five previous matchups against the Kings this year, Valanciunas averaged 26.7 minutes and 11.4 rebounds, so we could see him get over 9.5 rebounds here.

Once you make your picks, you can place your entry as a “Flex Play” or a “Power Play”. A “Flex Play” gives you the ability to still have a successful entry while missing one of your picks. However, that also lowers the payout multiplier on your entry. A “Power Play” means you have to get all your picks right, but has a lower payout multiplier. A “Power Play” means that all your picks have to be correct for a successful entry, and has a higher payout multiplier than a “Flex Play”.

Must be at least 19 years of age and within applicable state (21+ in AZ and MA). Pick Em games available in AK, AR, AZ, CA, DC, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MN, NE, NM, NC, ND, OK, OR, RI, SC, SD, TX, UT, VT, VA, WI only. Arena games available in AL, TN, WV, WY only. Full T&C apply.
