There’s a shorter slate to start off the first week of August. Monday’s main slate features seven games and locks at 7:05 p.m. ET.

Pitchers

No pitchers priced as studs today, but there are two knocking on the door of elite pricing.

Anthony DeSclafani and Tylor Megill have plus matchups despite having their starts on the road. Both are rated as top five options on FanDuel using the Bales Model, and Megill is ranked fourth on DraftKings. Each is also priced steeper on FanDuel as top-two options rank higher because they each have a Bargain Rating of 75%. Pricing is looser on DraftKings. The biggest drawback of the duo is neither is projected to lead the position in scoring. Projections are difficult to nail in baseball, but a pitcher’s skillset and opponent lend to a better range.

Value

Pricing makes it tough to nail a cheap option, but the best dart throw at pitcher is Josiah Gray. The former Dodgers prospect will make his first start with the Washington Nationals at home against the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia has an 85 wRC+ on the road against right-handed pitching and has one of the highest Groundball-to-Flyball ratios. If not for the 12th best Home Run-to-Flyball ratio, the Phillies offense is mediocre.

Fastballs

Ranger Suarez is opening for the Phillies. He will be stretched out as the season ends and is not a viable DFS option.

Andrew Heaney is the top-rated pitcher on both platforms. The lefty is making his first start for the New York Yankees at home against the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore is league-average on the road against southpaws but does not offer much in the way of power. Heaney is projected to score the most fantasy points.

Michael Wacha struck out nine Yankees in his last outing. The Seattle Mariners are in Tampa. Seattle is top-10 in strikeout rate in road games against righties.

Notable Stack

No surprise where the top FanDuel stack comes from:

  • Anthony Rizzo (L)
  • D.J. LeMahieu (R)
  • Joey Gallo (L)
  • Aaron Judge (R)

Total Salary: $14,900

All four are top 10 rated hitters on DraftKings, with Rizzo not ranking there on FanDuel. LeMahieu is the top-rated hitter on both sites. The Yankees are –251 favorites and are projected to score 6.3 runs against Jorge Lopez and the Orioles. Lopez has allowed an .890 OPS to Yankees hitters in 68 at-bats.

Other Hitters

If you want to save salary on a Yankees stack, consider Brett Gardner. He has an .855 OPS against Lopez.

Ketel Marte and Asdrubal Cabrera have combined for four hits, one home run, two RBI’s and a .182 average against Anthony DeSclafani.

Brandon Lowe has been subpar for majority of the season but has had a strong two weeks. Since July 18, Lowe has a hit in 11 of 15 games (four multi-hit games), two homers, six RBI’s, and an 11:11 K/BB ratio.
