MLB Trend of the Day: Middle-Of-The-Order Hitters With High Vegas Scores and Pro Trends

At FantasyLabs, we believe that we have the best daily fantasy sports tools and data available. We also realize that these tools and data are only as beneficial as our ability to communicate their functionality and worth.

With this in mind, our Trend of the Day series features articles that walk subscribers each weekday through an important trend, created with our FREE Trends tool. Also, shortly after you create a trend, you will be able to see it under the “My Trends” column in our Player Models.

MLB Trend of the Day: Middle-Of-The-Order Hitters With High Vegas Scores and Pro Trends

The thing that’s so great about the FantasyLabs Vegas Score is that it combines many Vegas-based factors (run total, moneyline, line movement, etc.) and throws it into one nice number. This makes things so much easier when doing your daily research.

That Vegas score will be the main component of today’s Trend of the Day. I want to study what happens when hitters on FanDuel have a high Vegas Score and hit in the middle of the order. (For all things Vegas, visit the … Vegas page.)

The top of the order is where so many DFS players live (for good reason), but being a tournament player I’m always looking for areas to be different. No, it’s not drastically different, but in many cases it’ll be enough to differentiate your lineup.

For an unparalleled DFS edge, try our free Trends tool, through which you can access our massive database of advanced data and leverage our premium exclusive metrics, such as Bargain Rating, Upside, Consistency, and Plus/Minus.

Step 1: Vegas Filters > Vegas Score > Set to “75 to 100”

I only want the top Vegas Scores in this trend, so let’s set it to 75 and above.

Step 2: Player Filter > Lineup Order > Set to “4 to 6”

We could certainly make this trend better by going with  “1 to 3,” and you should if you’re a cash player. I’m sticking with a different approach, though, because I’m a different kind of guy.

Step 3: Trends > Pro Trends > Set to “6 to 20”

FantasyLabs’ Pro Trends should always play a role in your research. Everyone loves easy research, and Pro Trends are nothing if not easy. To make sure I look at Pro Trends, I work them into almost all of the trends I create.

And yes, I set it for 6 to 20. This ensures my trend won’t miss someone who sets a new Pro Trend record. If I set it for 6 to 14, and a player has 15 in his favor, I’d miss out.

The Takeaway

This trend has been spitting out a fair number of plays lately. That’s a good thing — we don’t want to create trends that are too exclusive. Still, this trend has a Plus/Minus of exactly +2.00 points.

It’s important to note when dealing with lineup order in your trends that looking at current matches before lineups are set will give you multiple players at many order spots. That being said, here are today’s current matches.

Always be sure to look at the FantasyLabs Lineups page for confirmed lineups. They’re also noted with a green check mark in the Player Models.
