NFL Week 2 Player Props

It’s Sunday morning, and some NFL Week 2 player props are starting to be posted. Here are just a few that catch my eye and my general thoughts on them. DISCLAIMER: I’m not making recommendations. I’m providing my thoughts. You should do your own research, because around here we’re basically donkeys.

LeSean McCoy: Rushing Yards

Over 75.5 Rushing Yards, -125
Under 75.5 Rushing Yards, -105

LeSean McCoy: Pass Receptions

Over 3.5 Pass Receptions, -115
Under 3.5 Pass Receptions, -115

LeSean McCoy: Receiving Yards

Over 22.5 Receiving Yards, -115
Under 22.5 Receiving Yards, -115

In his time with the Bills, LeSean McCoy has had 15 carries in 22 games. In those contests, he’s averaged 97.5 yards. The Bills are 6.5-point road underdogs, but they have had a top-two offense in rush volume each of the last two years, and last week they led the league with 42 rushes for 190 yards. In his 22 workhorse games with the Bills, McCoy has averaged 3.5 receptions per game for 26.2 yards, but last week — in his first game with new offensive coordinator Rick Dennison — McCoy had five receptions for 49 yards. He’s one of the best all-around backs in the league, his team has limited receiving options, and the game script should encourage the Bills to throw more than they normally might. Dennison funneled 3.53 receptions per game for 32.0 yards to Arian Foster in his three Pro-Bowl seasons with the Texans (2010-13).

Rishard Matthews: Pass Receptions

Over 4.0 Pass Receptions, -130
Under 4.4 Pass Receptions, Even

Rishard Matthews: Receiving Yards

Over 52.5 Receiving Yards, -115
Under 52.5 Receiving Yards, -115

Ever since he started playing a supermajority of the snaps in Tennessee, Rishard Matthews has averaged 4.7 receptions per game for 69.7 yards. That said, he’s likely to run many of his routes against stud cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is questionable (ankle) but expected to play. In his two games against the Jags last year, Matthews averaged 3.5 receptions and 34.5 yards on 6.5 targets per game.

James White: Pass Receptions

Over 2.5 Pass Receptions, -125
Under 2.5 Pass Receptions, -105

James White: Receiving Yards

Over 24.5 Receiving Yards, -125
Under 24.5 Receiving Yards, -105

James White has played 16 games (including playoffs) with quarterback Tom Brady in the last calendar year. In those games he’s had 4.25 receptions per game for 38.5 yards receiving.

Ben Roethlisberger: Pass Completions

Over 23.5 Pass Completions, -105
Under 23.5 Pass Completions, -125

Ben Roethlisberger: Passing Yards

Over 260.5 Passing Yards, -115
Under 260.5 Passing Yards, -115

The matchup isn’t great against the Vikings, but Ben Roethlisberger is a beast as a home favorite: 25.8 completions per game for 333.7 yards since 2014.
